In the presence of Vice-Marshal Aneta Jędrzejewska and Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak, an agreement was signed today (21 March) between the state company PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, which manages the national railway infrastructure, and the investment contractor for the modernisation of a seven-kilometre section of the railway line from Aleksandrów Kujawski to Ciechocinek. Modernisation work will begin immediately. At the same time, the regional government, which is the organiser of rail passenger services in the region, has begun selecting a carrier to operate the line. Transfers to our most famous spa will be launched as early as December.

Thorough modernisation of the railway infrastructure is a prerequisite for launching services on this line, which has not been used for several years. The investment will enable trains to travel at a speed of 120 km per hour. The works also include the reconstruction of level crossings, the renewal of platforms in Ciechocinek, Aleksandrów and Odolion, and the modernisation of traffic control devices and the catenary network. The cost will amount to PLN 25 million.

– On the initiative of the regional government, connections to Ciechocinek are returning to the timetable after 14 years. I am convinced that the date of the inauguration of the runs will certainly be met. The most modern rolling stock we have at our disposal will run to Ciechocinek,’ emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

The regional government of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship has earmarked PLN 30 million to finance rail connections on the Bydgoszcz-Toruń-Otłoczyn-Ciechocinek route in the years 2025-2030.

The carrier selected in the tender will provide a minimum of eight pairs of trains from Ciechocinek to Aleksandrów Kujawski from 14 December. The trains will be air-conditioned, modern and adapted to carry bicycles.

People over 65 years of age will pay only PLN 4 for a ride on this route, and in the first month of operation all passengers will pay only a symbolic PLN.
