Railway closer to residents
From Sunday (August 31), residents of the increasingly populated Trzeciewnica near Nakło will be able to use a new railway stop. This is another project by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, carried out at the request of the Marshal of the Region, taking into account the changing settlement network in our region and making it easier for passengers to use our regional rail connections.
– In the close vicinity of large urban centers, smaller localities are developing more and more, and Trzeciewnica is one of them. Its residents, who until now could only use stations in Ślesin and Nakło nad Notecią, several kilometers away, now have the railway right next to their homes. They will reach Nakło in just a few minutes, Bydgoszcz in half an hour, and the Baltic coast in just three hours – emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
From the stop in Trzeciewnica, passengers will be able to reach, among others, both capitals of our region as well as Piła (Wielkopolskie Region), Kołobrzeg (Zachodniopomorskie Region), and Szczecin.
The project, implemented under the Government Program for the Construction or Modernization of Railway Stops for 2021–2025, included the construction of two high platforms adapted to the needs of persons with disabilities, installation of shelters, benches, information boards, and lighting. The total investment cost amounted to PLN 7.3 million.
In Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region, passengers are already using new stops adapted to the changed settlement network.
New railway stops:
- Tuchola Rudzki Most
- Grudziądz Tuszewo
- Grudziądz Śródmieście
- Grudziądz Rządz
- Dąbrowa Chełmińska Centrum
- Grzybno (Chełmno County)
As part of the government program, a new ground-level access was also built to the Grudziądz Mniszek stop, and the Bydgoszcz Zachód stop was modernized. The Brodnica Południowa stop is under construction. Design works are also underway for the Nakło nad Notecią Zachodnie stop, which will be put into service in autumn 2026.
This year, the regional self-government will allocate PLN 237 million for regional passenger transport. This amount includes compensation costs for Arriva and Polregio, as well as infrastructure access charges and station fees – PLN 31.3 million. We also own three-quarters of the trains operating passenger services in our region.
