Our Parks Invite You to Celebrate the International Landscape Day
Every year, events across the country mark the International Landscape Day, celebrated on October 20 to commemorate the signing of the European Landscape Convention. This year’s theme is “Symbiosis – Nature and the City in One Landscape.” Landscape parks in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region are joining the celebration by inviting families to excursions, picnics, walks, and a photo contest.
The International Landscape Day, observed on October 20, was established by the Council of Europe at Poland’s initiative—specifically, that of the General Directorate for Environmental Protection. Its goal is to raise public awareness, highlight the value of landscapes in everyday life, and encourage reflection on responsible spatial planning and the recovery of areas transformed by human activity.
This year, our regional landscape parks invite you to:
Tucholski Landscape Park – On Saturday, October 18, the park will host a family trip under the slogan “Symbiosis – Nature and the City in One Landscape!”
The group will depart at 9:00 a.m. from the parking lot by Lake Głęboczek in Tuchola. The 12 km route follows the B. Nowodworski Trail through Wymysłowo and the Brda River Valley Nature Reserve, then circles Lake Głęboczek to the fishing lodge, where a bonfire will conclude the event. Participants should bring their own food. Families and pets are welcome.
Registration is required with Tucholski Landscape Park staff, tel. +48 52/33-43-712.
Wdecki Landscape Park – Also on Saturday, October 18, the park is organizing a walk around Lake Żurskie to celebrate International Landscape Day. Departure at 11:00 a.m. from the Centre for Active Nature Protection in Tleń. The 10 km route can be challenging in places (overgrown paths, muddy areas, narrow trails). Participants are asked to wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear. The walk will last about 3–4 hours, ending with a warm soup for all participants.
Space is limited; registration required at +48 696 463 734. More information can be found on the park’s Facebook page.
Górznieńsko-Lidzbarski Landscape Park invites you to take part in the Youth Landscape Week – a series of educational workshops for children and young people. The program will focus on protecting the landscape, caring for our surroundings, and appreciating the park’s natural, aesthetic, and cultural values. The week begins on October 20 with a picnic at the Ecological Education Centre in Ruda, co-organized with the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Bydgoszcz.
The park also invites students from grades 4–8 of schools in Brodnica County to participate in a photo contest titled “The Landscape of My Home.” Each participant may submit one original photo showing the natural beauty of the Brodnica County.
Entries should be emailed to konkurs@pkgorzno.strefa.pl by November 5. The public prize will be awarded through voting (likes) on the park’s official Facebook page.
The Association of Landscape Parks „Lower Vistula Valley” will host the 9th Lower Vistula Redyk in Gruczno on November 9 as part of the Landscape Day celebrations.
A redyk is the traditional return of grazing animals from mountain pastures at the end of the season.
Details of the event will be announced soon on the Complex’s Facebook page.
