Osie focuses on development
The municipality of Osie in the Świecie County is effectively investing in development. A modern fire station and the Social Initiatives Centre currently under construction are places that not only improve safety, but also strengthen the local community. During his visit, Zbigniew Ostrowski, Deputy Marshal of the Province, visited both facilities, emphasising the importance of the effective use of public and EU funds in the development of municipalities.
Michał Grabski, Mayor of Osie, gave a tour of the completed and planned investments, presenting the achievements to date and plans for the coming years.
The fire station, which will be put into use in 2023, has a usable area of almost 700 square metres. The building houses, among other things, five garages, storage rooms for respiratory protection equipment and fuel, a workshop, social and administrative facilities with a control room, a briefing and training room, and a kitchen. The cost of the investment exceeded PLN 6 million, of which PLN 1.2 million came from the municipality’s budget, while the remaining amount was obtained by the municipality in the form of subsidies. The facility has been equipped to a standard corresponding to that of the State Fire Service.
During his visit, Deputy Marshal Ostrowski also familiarised himself with the progress of the construction of the Social Initiatives Centre – a space that is soon to become the heart of local activity and integration of residents. The modern, two-storey building with an area of over 700 square metres will be fully accessible to people with disabilities. It will be equipped with a lift, a photovoltaic installation, a heat pump and an electric vehicle charging station. The surroundings of the facility will be aesthetically landscaped – there will be places to rest, outdoor lighting and a car park.
Inside, spaces adapted to the needs of various social groups are planned, including:
- a senior citizens’ club,
- a youth club,
- a music room,
- rooms for rural housewives’ clubs, local associations and families in crisis.
The cost of this investment is nearly PLN 7.5 million, of which almost PLN 3 million is co-financed by European Union funds.
The mayor of Osie also showed passengers on the inaugural journey of the ‘Borsuk’ train around the revitalised areas around the railway station in Tleń. In the immediate vicinity of the station, a building has been renovated, in which a memorial room is planned to be created, and the adjacent area has been transformed into an aesthetic square, a new space conducive to the integration of the local community.
