One hundred years, two women, thousands of memories

Two women, one hundred years of life and countless stories. Anna Musiał from Jadwigowo (Nakło county) and Helena Łukaszewska from Witunia (Sępólno county) are celebrating their 100th birthdays. One raised seven children, the other exercised at an outdoor gym until a few years ago. Both survived the war, worked hard and today, surrounded by their families, reminisce fondly about the old days.

May the kindness you bestow on others return strengthened by the care, warmth and attention of loved ones. May each day bring you joy, love and support – wishes Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

On the occasion of their jubilee, the honoured jubilarians were awarded the marshal’s Unitas Durat Palatinatus Cuiaviano-Pomeraniensis medal. With congratulations and birthday wishes, they were visited by Beata Krzemińska, spokeswoman for the Marshal’s Office.

The 100th birthday of Mrs Anna Musiał, who was born on 21 May 1925 in Dźwierszno (Piła County), is an occasion to reminisce about a life full of work, challenges and family warmth. Forced to work on a German farm during the occupation, she and her husband Kazimierz settled in Jadwiga after the war. She gave birth to seven children and today can boast 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Although she can no longer get out of bed after passing Covid-19, she still retains an excellent memory and enjoys telling her family about the old days. Representatives of the local municipality also visited Mrs Anna with birthday wishes.

Mum has a great memory. Sometimes I laugh that she has a better memory than I do. She remembers the names of all her great-grandchildren,” jokes her daughter Regina Musiał.

The second of the jubilarians, Helena Łukaszewska, was born on 18 May 1925 in Wyrzysko (Piła County). During the war, she was deported to work on the construction of fortifications near Malbork . After the war, she settled in Witunia, where she and her husband Bronisław raised their son Jan. Helena has two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She cherishes her walks in the garden, and her granddaughter Catherine still recalls the taste of her homemade grey noodles and tomato soup. Until a few years ago, Mrs Helena exercised independently in an outdoor gym and regularly visited her son in Szczecin.
