INFORMATION PORTAL OF THE MARSHAL'S OFFICE OF THE KUJAWSKO-POMORSKIE Region IN TORUŃ

A delegation from the friendly Ukrainian Khmelnytskyi Oblast paid an official visit to Toruń. The delegation was headed by Volodymyr Yuriev, Deputy Head of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast Military Administration, and Valentyn Sokoluk, Deputy Chair of the Oblast Council. Yesterday (16 December), they met at the Marshal’s Office with Marshal Piotr Całbecki. Earlier in the day, they visited residents of the care center on Maria Skłodowska-Curie Street. The talks, which also involved representatives of Ukrainian and Kujawsko-Pomorskie social policy sectors, focused, among other things, on cooperation aimed at improving support systems for people with disabilities.

The delegation also included Iryna Ivanivna Kovalchuk, Director of the Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast Military Administration; Liubov Larionivna Tymofiiv, Head of the Child Protection Service of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast Military Administration; Liana Valentynivna Zalutska, Regional Consultant of the Coordination Center for the Development of Family-Based Care and Childcare in Khmelnytskyi Oblast; Ukrainian Consul Oleksandr Plodystyi; and Oleksandra Churkina, a Child Protection Specialist with UNICEF.

Since 2022, intellectually disabled residents of an evacuated care home from Khmelnytskyi have been staying in our region. Currently, 54 people – both children and adults – are accommodated at the care facility on Maria Skłodowska-Curie Street in Toruń.

The visit provided an opportunity for representatives responsible for social policy to become familiar with the types of therapy and the scope of activities of support facilities in our region, as well as to exchange experiences related to assisting people in need. Study visits as well as internship and traineeship programs for staff are planned.

The meeting was also attended by Milena Skopińska, Director of the Regional Social Policy Centre in Toruń, and Michał Neumann, Deputy Director of the Centre.
