New state-of-the-art diagnostics at the Regional Children’s Hospital in a year and a half

Construction of a state-of-the-art Organ Diagnostics Centre with two MRI and cytometry labs, as well as endoscopy and ultrasound rooms, is under way at the Marshall Regional Children’s Hospital. With the participation of Marshal Piotr Całbecki and Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski, the traditional ground-breaking ceremony was held today (27 May) at the treatment centre complex.

This investment is another step in the development of the facility, which for years has been one of the best of its kind in the country. We are not resting on our laurels; we are investing to maintain the current high level of diagnostics and treatment. In medicine, there are no finished projects. Hospitals, especially the most important ones in the region, need to be continuously modernised, which means purchasing the latest generation of equipment and medical apparatus, as well as extending hospital complexes – emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

A new three-storey building (3,500 square metres of usable floor space) will be constructed in the place which is currently used as a hospital car park, and will house state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratories (two MRI scanning laboratories, a cytometry and endoscopy laboratory and an ultrasound laboratory transferred from the existing building), as well as a two-storey car park with 93 spaces. The new facility will be functionally connected to the existing building of the hospital’s specialist clinics.

The total cost is PLN 77 million (the equipment, including state-of-the-art multi-organ diagnostic imaging equipment, will cost half this amount). Funding is based on our regional programme of the 2021-2027 perspective.

The contractor for the work is the Bydgoszcz-based company Ebud Przemyslowa, which has 18 months to complete it.
