New Railway Stations and Stops

Passengers using the regional rail services funded by the region self-government benefit daily from steadily modernized station infrastructure – upgrades that are also supported by the European Union. Recently, a renovated station in Złotniki Kujawskie has been made available, and after renovation, the doors at Toruń Wschodni station are now open to travelers. PKP Polish State Railways also plans to build a new stop in Nakło nad Notecią.

“By investing together in railway stations and stops, we not only restore their former glory but also provide passengers with modern infrastructure where they can wait for trains in comfort,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Passenger-Friendly Spaces

Thanks to an investment by Polish Railways in Złotniki Kujawskie, passengers can now wait for trains in an air-conditioned and heated waiting area. The station features electronic arrival and departure boards and a new voice information system. A key part of the project is making the station accessible for people with disabilities.

The renovation of Toruń Wschodni station has been completed, and revitalization of the railway buildings at Toruń Miasto station is still underway. Refurbished waiting rooms will be available to travelers, equipped with new ergonomic benches, modern and stylish lighting, timetable display cases, and electronic train information boards. Architectural barriers will also be eliminated. The reconstruction of the Toruń stations is part of the BiT City II project, carried out by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, Polish State Railways, and the City of Toruń.

Later this year, renovations at Mogilno station will be completed. The building, originally constructed in the second half of the 19th century, has had its historical appearance restored. The station is now equipped with infrastructure that improves passenger comfort and safety and has been adapted for travelers with disabilities. The project was co-financed by European Union funds.

Changes are also underway at Nakło nad Notecią station, where – under a government program to build or modernize railway stops – an underground passage is being rebuilt. The project will connect the station building and platforms with Nowa Street and a park & ride facility, improving train access for those arriving by different means of transport. Completion is scheduled for next year.

New Stops

In 2026, a new stop – Brodnica Południowa – will open to the public. PKP Polish State Railways has announced a tender for the design and construction of the stop at 18 Stycznia Street. It will feature a single platform with easy access for people with disabilities, benches, information boards, and shelters. Located on railway line no. 33 (Kutno–Brodnica), the new stop will improve access for travelers heading to Rypin, the city center, and toward Bydgoszcz.

New railway stops are also being built in the region. In Trzeciewnica (Nakło County), on the Bydgoszcz–Piła line, a brand-new facility is under construction to improve passenger access. Until now, residents have had to use more distant stations in Ślesin or Nakło nad Notecią. The new platforms will be available to passengers by mid-year.

Also in Nakło nad Notecią, passengers will gain easier access to the railway system. A new stop will be built at the Dąbrowskiego Street level crossing. Plans include the construction of two platforms with accessible walkways for people with disabilities. The work is set to be completed within a year. The new stop will improve access to trains heading toward Piła and Bydgoszcz. PKP PLK has announced a tender for the design and construction of the stop.

Passengers can already use new stops introduced in the past two years in our region: Grudziądz Rządz, Bydgoszcz Zachód, Tuchola Rudzki Most, and Grzybno (Chełmno County). New stops are being built in Trzeciewnica and Dąbrowa Chełmińska. A tender for designing and building a new stop in Brodnica is also planned.

Comfortable Stations

In previous years, the region self-government, through the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Regional Operational Programme, supported the redevelopment of stations in Solec Kujawski, Wąbrzeźno, and Tuchola.

As part of the BiT City project, funded by the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme, the Bydgoszcz Błonie stop was built. The Bydgoszcz Leśna and Bydgoszcz Bielawy stops were also modernized. A new tram line connecting the Fordon district with central Bydgoszcz was built. Two flagship investments from a decade ago – Bydgoszcz Główna station and Toruń station – significantly improved passenger service at these major transport hubs.

Travelers also benefit from thoroughly renovated stations in Włocławek Główny and Janikowo.

In 2024, nearly 8 million passengers used regional rail services. This year, trains will travel 6.5 million kilometers. In December, train service to Ciechocinek will return to the timetable.

In 2025, the Marshal’s Office will allocate 237 million PLN in subsidies for passenger rail services. This includes compensation payments for Arriva and Polregio, as well as infrastructure access and station fees – totaling 31.3 million PLN.
