New railway station in Dąbrowa Chełmińska
At the request of the regional government, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe has built a new station that will be used by passengers travelling on the Bydgoszcz – Unisław Pomorski – Chełmża route. The new Dabrowa Chełmińska Centrum station, located on Leśna Street, will be opened on 15 June.
“I am glad that passengers on our regional rail connections will be able to use a modern station built thanks to cooperation with PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe. This partnership is exemplary!” emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
The direction of development of Dąbrowa Chełmińska has meant that the only railway stop is now several kilometres away from the centre. From mid-June, residents will have access to a modern facility, equipped with a range of amenities and located closer to the town.
Passengers are provided with convenient access and easier boarding of trains from a high platform with a non-slip surface and raised guide paths for blind and visually impaired people. A shelter, benches, information display cases, timetables and signage have also been installed. The platforms are lit by energy-efficient LED lamps. The project was carried out as part of the government’s 2021-2025 stop programme.
The new stop will also be used by more passengers, as the number of connections on this route will increase from 15 June. We are launching four additional pairs of trains, thanks to which a total of twenty trains per day will run between Bydgoszcz and Chełmża via Dąbrowa Chełmińska and Unisław.
PKP PLK is implementing further investments at the request of the regional government. The station being built in Trzeciewnica on railway line 18 Kutno – Piła Główna will be completed in the summer. Design work is also underway on the Nakło nad Notecią Zachodnie station, which will be put into service in autumn 2026.
Another stop, Brodnica Południowa, will be built on line 33 Kutno – Brodnica. It will be used by passengers of regional trains to Rypin, which will appear on this route from December 2026.
The regional government, which organises passenger rail transport in the region, will allocate PLN 237 million in subsidies for this purpose this year. This amount includes compensation costs for Arriva and Polregio, as well as costs of access to railway infrastructure and station fees – PLN 31.3 million. We also own three-quarters of the trains (37 sets) serving passenger connections in our region.
