New Marshal’s cultural institution in Włocławek
The Regional Government to Establish a Modern Cultural and Educational Institution in Włocławek. The regional government will create in Włocławek a modern cultural and educational institution, to be located in a building at 70 Stodólna Street, transferred by the Włocławek County Office. The property, vacated last year by a complex of health clinics, will undergo a major renovation and adaptation – Marshal Piotr Całbecki announced today at a press conference.
“Włocławek, a city with traditions, potential and rightful ambitions, deserves a cultural and educational institution that will combine the popularization of knowledge with exhibition and publishing activities,” emphasized Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “We have been implementing the idea of popularizing knowledge and innovative education for years – the Astrobaza Kopernik network, the upcoming Energy Mill in Grudziądz, the planned Energy of Inowrocław, and now the Włocławek Culture and Education Center Energia. The goal is to convey knowledge to young people in an engaging way, especially in the fields of science and history. We also want the future center in Włocławek to highlight outstanding figures connected with the city and this part of Kujawy, as well as the history of local industry. I believe it will be a truly inspiring place. Włocławek has much to be proud of!”
The future Włocławek Culture and Education Center “Energia”, to be managed by the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Center for Education and Innovation (KPCEI), will operate in the former county-owned facility once housing specialist clinics, now relocated to a purpose-built headquarters. The building at 70 Stodólna Street is a neoclassical former hospital of the Jewish community, opened in autumn 1930. Its architectural concept was designed by Stefan Narębski, a Vilnius-based architect who at that time served as the city architect of Włocławek. After World War II, before becoming home to health clinics, the facility housed an infectious diseases hospital.
The property – officially handed over today by the Włocławek County authorities, represented by County Executive Roman Gołębiewski – requires significant investment and adaptation to meet its new functions. A comprehensive renovation project has been planned.
Today’s press conference with Marshal Piotr Całbecki in Włocławek was also attended by Regional Government Board Member Marek Wojtkowski, Regional Assembly Members Sławomir Kopyść and Przemysław Ziemecki, City Mayor Krzysztof Kukucki, Senator Stanisław Pawlak, and KPCEI Director Małgorzata Sadowska-Rodziewicz.
KPCEI, the marshal’s cultural institution that will oversee the future Energia Włocławek, focuses on developing innovative cultural and educational solutions to foster key competences and promote science, culture, and the arts. It runs the Astronomical Education Center, which coordinates the Astrobaza Kopernik network. KPCEI is also responsible for the ongoing and planned cultural and educational centers Energy Mill in Grudziądz and Energy of Inowrocław, as well as the revitalization of the palace complex in Wieniec and the program concept of the cultural institution to be located there.
