National scientific conference in Szafarnia

The Chopin Centre in Szafarnia is hosting the 2nd National Scientific Conference “Chopin in Kujawsko-Pomorskie”, organized by the Chopin in the Garden of Arts Foundation and the Chopin Centre. The event was held to mark the 200th anniversary of Fryderyk Chopin’s stay in our region.

The conference has an interdisciplinary character. The topics of the presentations also cover non-musical issues, presenting the composer in a broader historical and cultural context.

Among the speakers were specialists in musicology, history, art history, cultural studies, and philosophy. The proceedings were opened by the distinguished musicologist Prof. Piotr Dahlig, who delivered a lecture titled Mazurkas op. 6 and 7 as Closest to the Szafarnia–Sanniki Period in the Life of Fryderyk Chopin.

Conference participants also enjoyed a Chopin recital by Tianyao Lyu, the winner of the 31st Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition for Children and Youth in Szafarnia. The pianist is scheduled to perform in Warsaw in October during the prestigious 19th Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition.

The second day of the conference is ahead; a detailed program is available on the Centre’s website: Szafarnia.art
