National scientific conference in Szafarnia

The Chopin Centre in Szafarnia is today hosting the start of the 2nd National Academic Conference on Chopin in Kujawsko-Pomorskie, organised by the Chopin in the Garden of Arts Foundation and the Chopin Centre. The event is being held to mark the 200th anniversary of Fryderyk Chopin’s stay in our region and will last until 12 September.

The conference is interdisciplinary in nature. The topics of the papers also cover non-musical issues, presenting the composer in a broader historical and cultural context.

Speakers include specialists in musicology, history, art history, cultural studies and philosophy. The conference will be opened by the eminent musicologist Prof. Piotr Dahlig, who will give a lecture entitled Mazurkas Op. 6 and 7 as the closest to the times of Szafarnia and Sannica in the life of Fryderyk Chopin.

Conference participants will also enjoy a Chopin recital by Tianyao Lyu, winner of the 31st International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth in Szafarnia. The pianist will perform in Warsaw in October at the prestigious 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition.

A detailed programme of the conference is available at: www.fundacjachopin.pl

The organisers also encourage you to share information about the event on social media.

We cordially invite you to Szafarnia!
