Name the Train to Hel!

A direct train from Bydgoszcz to Hel will be included in the summer timetable. The service, which will run daily from June 19 throughout the summer, does not yet have a name. Arriva, the operator of this route, is announcing a contest to name the train. Submissions are open until the end of March, with a chance to win a free trip for the whole family. “I encourage everyone to participate in the contest,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki. The regional self-government is a partner in this initiative.

– This summer, passengers from our region will have the opportunity to travel directly to seaside destinations and enjoy family time. The summer timetable will once again include a connection to Hel. The seasonal Rybitwa train will also return to the tracks, allowing travelers to reach Kołobrzeg without transfers. The third destination is Szczecin, a connection that has been in operation for several months thanks to an agreement with neighboring regional governments and has gained significant popularity among passengers, – emphasizes the head of the region.

Win a Voucher

The contest challenges participants to come up with an original name for the train running from Bydgoszcz to Hel. The name should consist of one or two words, be easy to remember, relate to the journey’s character and the region, and emphasize the uniqueness of this connection.

The contest rules and details are available on the Arriva website.

The winner will receive a voucher for five people for a round-trip journey on the Bydgoszcz–Hel route, along with gifts and souvenirs. Name suggestions should be sent to marketing@arriva.pl. The winner will be announced by the end of April.

Not Just to Hel

Direct summer train services to Hel are returning to the timetable after a break. This route also allows travel to Gdańsk, Sopot, Gdynia, and all towns along the Hel Peninsula. With the start of the holiday season, popular direct connections to Kołobrzeg will also resume. The Rybitwa train will be back on track on June 28.

In cooperation with the Zachodniopomorskie and Wielkopolskie regional self-governments, the Barnim train runs daily from Bydgoszcz Główna to Szczecin Główny, providing passengers with a direct connection to the Zachodniopomorskie Region capital and the western Baltic coast.

Trains running under the new timetable will cover 300,000 more kilometers than in 2024, totaling 6.5 million kilometers.

In 2025, the Marshal’s Office will allocate 237 million PLN in subsidies for regional passenger transport. This amount covers compensation for Arriva and Polregio, railway infrastructure access fees, and station fees totaling 31.3 million PLN.
