Modern Equipment for the Police
A rapid response by emergency services and access to proper tools are crucial during natural disasters, major failures, or other crisis situations. The Kujawsko-Pomorskie police have just received new, specialist equipment – mobile command centers, vehicles for transporting police dogs, and drone sets supporting rescue operations. Marshal Piotr Całbecki took part in the ceremonial handover.
“We are strengthening the potential of the services because it is an investment in the safety of all residents of the region. Starting next year, we will allocate additional funds for this purpose. Modern equipment will enable more effective operations, faster response during emergencies, and better coordination of actions. Thank you – this is a noble, demanding, and extremely important service,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
Mobile Crisis Management Centers
The new logistics vehicles have been delivered to the units in Bydgoszcz, Toruń, and Włocławek. Each vehicle is equipped with autonomous power sources, lighting, a rescue tent with a heater, computer equipment, and monitoring systems including thermal imaging. Thanks to this, officers can quickly set up an independent command post in the field and assess situations more efficiently during floods, fires, or infrastructure failures.
The purchase of the vehicles was co-financed by the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021– 2027 program in the amount of PLN 1.36 million. The total project value is PLN 2.1 million.
New Vehicles for Police Dogs
Ten modern vehicles for the safe transport of police dogs have strengthened the fleets of police stations in Aleksandrów Kujawski, Brodnica, Chełmno, Nakło nad Notecią, Radziejów, Sępólno Krajeńskie, Świecie, Wąbrzeźno, and the Municipal Police Headquarters in Grudziądz. One vehicle was also delivered to the Prevention Department of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Bydgoszcz.
The new cars replace vehicles as old as twenty years, now being retired from service. Each is adapted to transport two officers and two dogs in special compartments, which will shorten response times and improve working conditions for the dogs responsible, among other tasks, for searching for missing persons.
The project is worth PLN 1.85 million, of which more than PLN 1.2 million comes from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021–2027 program.
Drones to Support Police Operations
Eight modern drones have been delivered to police officers in Bydgoszcz (4 drones), Grudziądz, and county units in Mogilno, Radziejów, and Tuchola. The equipment will be used during operations in hard-to-reach areas, in searches for missing persons, and for monitoring areas affected by fires, floods, or storm damage. The drones will increase the accuracy of situation assessment and help minimize risks to officers.
The project amounts to PLN 331,000, of which more than PLN 215,000 is co-financed by the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021–2027 program.
Self-Government Support for Safety
The regional self-government has been investing for years in modernizing police infrastructure, purchasing modern patrol cars, specialist equipment, and training officers.
Approximately 5,000 officers and 1,200 civilian employees serve in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie police. The region has 19 municipal and county headquarters, 27 stations, and 37 outposts. Each day, officers undertake an average of over 500 interventions, check the identities of 2,000 people, inspect nearly 2,000 vehicles, and conduct more than 3,000 driver sobriety tests.
