Employees and students of the I. Łyskowski Vocational Training Centre School Complex in Grubno (Chełmno County) are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the institution. In recognition of its services to the region’s residents and the local community, the school was awarded the Medal of the Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodship, Unitas Durat Palatinatus Cuiaviano-Pomeraniensis. The award was presented today (30 May) during a ceremony marking the school’s anniversary by Katarzyna Lubańska, Vice-President of the Provincial Council.

A school is not just walls, but above all people – students, their parents and teachers. They are the ones who create this institution, its atmosphere and achievements. I would like to thank all of you who, over the past seventy years, have built the reputation of our school, tirelessly introducing young people to the world of knowledge and experience,’ said acting director Elżbieta Chrapińska to those gathered. Elżbieta Chrapińska.

The Ignacy Łyskowski Vocational Education Centre in Grubno comprises a technical college and a first-level vocational school, and organises vocational qualification courses for adults in the profession of farmer. An interesting educational offer (including professions such as graphic and digital printing technician, hotel technician, agricultural vehicle mechanic-operator), the introduction of numerous pedagogical innovations  (e.g. courses in cosmetology, waiter-bartender, interior design, organic farming, sommelier courses and many others), allow students to develop comprehensively and acquire the qualifications and skills sought after on the labour market. The school cooperates with many employers and institutions in the organisation of patronage classes, professional internships, traineeships and workshops for students. All this makes young people more and more willing to consciously choose the School Complex in Grubno. The success of the institution lies both in the innovation and creativity of teaching and in the friendly atmosphere at the school, which supports students and teaching staff.

The focus on a high level of education, adapted to the needs of the market, results in high student performance and the success of the teaching staff. For several years, the school has been among the leaders in the region in terms of the number of scholarship holders in the marshal’s programmes: Top Students of Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Professional Talents of Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Top Students of Kujawsko-Pomorskie II:
