Local Action Group Agreements to Create More Senior Activity Centres

Under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021–2027 programme, funding is available for a wide range of initiatives that strengthen and activate local communities. Financial support is distributed through grant projects, with calls for applications announced by Local Action Groups (LAGs). In the coming days, two of these groups – the Dobrzyń Municipalities Local Action Group – Southern Region and the “Two Rivers” Local Action Group – will sign grant agreements with beneficiaries for the establishment and operation of new Senior Clubs, providing dedicated spaces for older residents to meet and participate in community activities.

“Local Action Groups are partnerships created by residents, non-governmental organisations and local governments. Because they work closely with local communities, they understand best how to encourage civic engagement and respond to local needs. The funding we allocate to Local Action Groups supports a wide range of initiatives that deliver tangible social benefits,” emphasised Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

In the coming days, two Local Action Groups in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region will award grant agreements for the creation of Senior Clubs:

  • The Dobrzyń Municipalities Local Action Group – Southern Region will present grant agreements on 20 July 2026 at 12:00 noon at the Żak Dobrzyń Cultural Centre (2 Szkolna Street, Dobrzyń nad Wisłą). Funding of more than PLN 974,000 will enable the establishment of 11 Senior Clubs.
  • The “Two Rivers” Local Action Group will present further grant agreements on 23 July 2026, starting at 2:00 p.m., at the “Dworcowa 3” Senior Centre (3 Dworcowa Street, Bydgoszcz). Grants totalling more than PLN 2.1 million will be awarded to 23 beneficiaries to establish additional Senior Clubs.

List of grant agreements

There are 27 Local Action Groups operating throughout the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region. Active in both urban and rural areas, they use European Union funding managed by the Marshal’s Office as well as resources allocated through the Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) instrument. By entrusting local communities with both funding and the tools needed to manage it, the regional self-government has effectively created a participatory budget on a regional scale. The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region is the only region in Poland implementing the CLLD approach on such a large scale.
