Kujawsko-Pomorskie Christmas Meeting

A traditional pre-Christmas meeting is underway in Toruń’s Artus Court, with the participation of regional government officials, parliamentarians, representatives of the clergy and representatives of government administration, civil society institutions and local governments from across the region.

A divided, conflicted nation is a weak nation that is unable to mobilize to defend its independence. I think this meeting of ours is a rallying cry that it doesn’t have to be that way. May its message resonate not only in the region, but throughout our homeland. Yes, it is possible to meet across differences, break a wafer, forgive and ask for forgiveness. (…) Another busy, not easy year is coming to an end, we are already planning a new one, full of ambitious plans, investments, ideas, projects. Let’s hope we don’t lack the determination to carry them all out. The residents are waiting for it, we are all waiting for it. (…) May there be no one missing at your table in your homes, may there be as few empty seats at the table as possible. I wish you a festive atmosphere, to find the meaning of Christmas and that, after a well-deserved Christmas vacation, you will enter the new year with even more passion and enthusiasm. May the Divine Child bless our province, Poland and all of you in your homes,” said the host of the region, Marshal Piotr Całbecki, welcoming the attendees.

– Faster, deeper, stronger, more intense – these words define our everyday life, the sphere of the profane. And Christmas is the sphere of the sacrum – so maybe: slower, quieter, more reflective … These are probably the most important, best wishes have Christmas time. If we put an empty plate on the table let’s fill it with heart and spirituality. If we dress the Christmas tree let’s first of all dress it with forgiveness. And if we wait for a weary wanderer, he will be every person who should sit with us at the table. And let the new 2025 be a year of new opportunities, new perspectives, a new opening. But above all, may it be a good year! – wished the attendees by the chairwoman of the provincial assembly, Elżbieta Piniewska.

A minute of silence was observed in memory of the recently deceased mayor of Piotrków Kujawski, Krystian Betlinski.
