How I Reached 100 Years

Born in Toruń in 1924, Józef Butrymowicz was a war veteran, an exemplary farmer and a devoted father. He was honoured for his military service and his contribution to the development of his home region. A veteran of the fight for freedom and independence of the homeland, he was awarded the Oder, Nysa and Baltic Medal, as well as the highest regional award, the Unitas Durat Palatinatus Cuiaviano-Pomeraniensis Gold Medal.

I hardly believe that I’ve reached 100 years! Before the war, life was simple, but joyful. One was happy to have peace and to have at least a little. recalls Józef Butrymowicz. Homeland, faith in the homeland – that is the most important thing. During the war, I fought and saw what happened on the front. We always celebrate November 11th with due respect, we raise the flag and celebrate. It’s a special day for me – our national holiday.

Józef Butrymowicz was honored with the Marshal’s distinction in September of this year. The most devoted volleyball fan is now celebrating his 100th birthday!
