Holcim Polska invests in a research and development center in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region

Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski took part today (March 23) in Piechcin, in Żnin County, in the ceremony of laying the foundation stone for the construction of a research and development center of Holcim Polska. The facility will serve as a hub for low-emission innovation technologies for the construction sector in Central and Eastern Europe. The international Holcim Group, which owns the Kujawy Cement Plant in Bielawy (Barcin municipality), is a leader in sustainable solutions for this industry.

For years, we have consistently been building a favorable environment for the economy and pro-development investments, with a view to budget revenues, the inflow of modern know-how, and job creation. This major investment, now underway, proves that international business appreciates these efforts and feels comfortable here,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

We are in what may be the most important place in our region for research and development activities. Holcim is investing in a center that will allow us—not only at the regional level, but also nationwide—to make up significant ground in innovation development. We also hope that this center will foster research and implementation cooperation in our region,” emphasized Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski.

The project, worth PLN 35 million, has received support from European funds (European Funds for a Modern Economy – FENG) as well as from the government’s National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR).

Today’s ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister Maria Mrówczyńska from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, NCBR Deputy Director Magdalena Kołodziejska, President of Holcim Polska Maciej Sypek, the company’s Director for Science, Research and Development Magdalena Dobiszewska, and Voivode Michał Sztybel.
