High School No. 4 with the Marshal’s medal

Your eighty-year history is an example of building a good school, which is a community of people who respect each other, accept each other and set themselves the highest goals,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki as he presented Małgorzata Białek, headmistress of Secondary School No. 4 in Toruń, with the Unitas Durat Palatinatus Cuiaviano-Pomeraniensis medal [In unity, the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship endures] during Monday’s (16 June) anniversary celebrations at the Jordanki Cultural and Congress Centre.

This is a medal for the special contributions of Secondary School No. 4 to our region. Congratulations on your achievements!’ emphasised the host of the province.

The school began operating in 1945 in a building on Mickiewicza Street in Toruń. The 1945/1946 school year began with 300 students in 10 classes, taught by 16 teachers. In 1947, Tadeusz Kościuszko became the patron of the school. Since 1961, high school students have been studying in the building on Warszawska Street.

Every year, Secondary School No. 4 ranks high in the school rankings conducted by the monthly magazine ‘Perspektywy’. This year, it ranks fourth among secondary schools in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship. Its best students, who are among the scholarship holders of the Prime Minister, the Minister of National Education and the Marshal of the Region, also rank high in competitions and subject Olympiads.
