Marshal Piotr Całbecki and Vice-President of the Regional Parliament Józef Ramlau met today (September 19) at the Copernican Library with the laureates of awards for outstanding achievements in the field of conservation and restoration of monuments, as well as those recognized for the best museum projects.

 

“Today’s awards are a token of appreciation for those engaged in protecting our material cultural heritage, and for those who educate and promote the traditions of our region,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “Your work represents an invaluable contribution to preserving our identity. Thank you for your effort, professionalism, and passion,” he added, addressing the laureates.

 

Hereditas Saeculorum Awards for Monument Protection:

Category I – Conservation and Restoration Works

• Roman Catholic Parish of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Górsk (Toruń County) – for conservation and restoration works on the organ prospectus and the instrument’s casing:
  • Rev. Stanisław Kuś – parish priest of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Górsk
  • Dagmara Kończalska – conservation works contractor
  • Piotr Trybuszewski – conservation works contractor

Honorable Mentions:

• Roman Catholic Parish of St. Nicholas the Bishop in Kruszyny (Brodnica County) – for conservation and restoration of the interior of St. Nicholas Church in Kruszyny
• Toruń Cultural Agenda and Toruń Center for Social Services – for conservation and restoration works on the townhouse at 50–52 Bydgoska Street in Toruń

Category II – Special Achievements in Monument Care and Protection

• Katarzyna Kluczwajd – museologist and regionalist, author of exhibitions and scholarly publications. Recognized for her dedication to popularizing knowledge about the culture, heritage, and history of Toruń, and for her research and promotion of “younger monuments” (from the 19th and 20th centuries).

Category I – Exhibition

Honorable Mentions:

• District Museum in Bydgoszcz for the temporary exhibition “Sounds from the Needle. The Global Phonograph Collection of Ewa and Adam Mańczak”
• Centre of Contemporary Art “Znaki Czasu” in Toruń for the temporary exhibition “Grażyna Hase. Fashion Revolutionary”

Category II – Research and Publishing Activity

Musejon Award:

• District Museum in Toruń for the project “Gingerbread Moulds in Polish Museum Collections. A Research Project”

Honorable Mentions:

• Fr. Dr. Władysław Łęga Museum in Grudziądz for the publication “War Losses of the Museum in Grudziądz”
• District Museum in Bydgoszcz for the publication by Barbara Chojnacka “The Artistic Community of Bydgoszcz in 1920–1939. Artists and Works”

Category III – Education and Regionalism

Musejon Award:

• Jan Kasprowicz Museum in Inowrocław for the project “The Bear”

Honorable Mentions:

• Sebastian Malinowski Bydgoszcz Canal Museum in Bydgoszcz for the project “250th Anniversary of the Bydgoszcz Canal”
• Prince Przemysł Museum in Solec Kujawski (Bydgoszcz County) for the project “100 Years of the Unia Solec Kujawski Sports Club”

 

Honorary Musejon Statuette was awarded to Maria Pokrzywnicka, museum educator, retired curator of the Ethnographic Museum in Toruń named after Maria Znamierowska-Prüfferowa, and former head of its education department. Among the many events she organized or co-organized were: Meetings with Folklore (1985–2001), Mornings with Damroka (1985–1999), the Review of Folk Dances and Songs Performed by Preschool Children (1985–2011), later continued as the Children’s Review of Rural Folklore (2012–2019), and the International Meetings of Folk Bands. Through her work, she aimed to instill in children and museum audiences tolerance for multiculturalism and respect for the heritage of Polish folk culture.
