Here it is – the mascot of the World Indoor Athletics Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26!

Marshal Piotr Całbecki and President of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Athletics Association Krzysztof Wolsztyński unveiled today (October 16) the symbol of the upcoming World Indoor Athletics Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26. The mascot of next year’s event will be a goose. A contest to choose its name runs until the end of October — we encourage everyone to take part!

“I am convinced that our mascot will win the hearts of all athletes and fans. The goose embodies the sporting spirit of competition, regional tradition, and the values of athletics,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki during the press conference.

The goose has been associated with the Kujawy and Pomorze Region for centuries, as exemplified by our well-known campaign “Goose for St. Martin’s Day”. It also symbolizes an athlete — strength, perseverance, and determination — values that are fundamental to athletics.

During the conference, the competition for naming the mascot was officially announced. You can send your proposals to maskotka@kujawypomorze26.pl by October 31. The winner will receive tickets to a selected session of the Championships and official event merchandise. Details and regulations are available on the event website.

Volunteer recruitment for the Championships is also open until October 20.

“Volunteering covers various areas of organization and event management. The range of tasks is broad, so we are looking for people with diverse skills and interests. We aim to engage not only young people but also those with more experience. Together, they will form dynamic, passionate teams that will make the Championships not only a sporting event but also a social and community experience for the entire region,” emphasized Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

So far, over 700 applications have been received. To participate, register on the Championships’ website and fill out the application form. Selected candidates will receive an email notification between late November and early December. Volunteer duties will depend on the assigned area. Krzysztof Wolsztyński, President of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Athletics Association and Vice-President of the Polish Athletics Association, also shared more news:

“Fans are eagerly awaiting the start of ticket sales — and they will open on October 27. There will be 3,000 tickets available for each of the three sessions. Interest in watching the world’s best athletes compete live at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena Toruń is enormous, with fans coming from all over the world.”

The conference also featured Adrianna Sułek-Schubert, ambassador of the Kujawy Pomorze 26 Championships and a multi-medalist at Polish, European, and World Championships:

“Hosting an event of this caliber in our region is a great honor. Competing ‘at home’, on Polish soil — where I’ve broken so many of my records — is something truly special.”
