Four Roundabouts Under Construction

Work has begun on the construction of roundabouts in Barcin (Żnin County) and Broniewice (Inowrocław County). Advanced work is underway in Golub-Dobrzyń, and we have also handed over the construction site for a roundabout in Dyblin (Lipno County). All these projects are part of the Marshal’s Road Modernization Program, aimed at eliminating hazardous spots on regional roads. Additional projects are in the preparation phase.

“Safety is the key issue in road modernization,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “As part of our comprehensive road investment package, we are building new roundabouts, sidewalks, and illuminated pedestrian crossings. We are utilizing European funds for this purpose.”

Barcin – Construction Has Started

Construction of the roundabout in Barcin began last week. The contractor started by fencing off part of the intersection, milling the existing surface, and relocating conflicting utilities (power, telecom, and water/sewage infrastructure). The access from Pakoska Street has been closed—traffic is being diverted via Dworcowa Street, and this detour will remain in place throughout the project.

At the intersection of Pakoska, 4 Stycznia, Polna, and Mogileńska streets, a four-leg roundabout will be built. Traffic lanes will be separated by islands with pedestrian crossings and cyclist paths. The roundabout will be designed to accommodate large vehicles. The contract value with the contractor, Kada-Bis, is PLN 7.4 million. The company has 6 months to complete the project.

Simultaneously, a sidewalk will be built along Pakoska Street. The project also includes driveway access to properties, stormwater drainage, and lighting installation. The area beyond the sidewalk will be landscaped. This PLN 1 million task is being carried out in cooperation with the Barcin municipality, which prepared the project documentation. A tender to select the contractor is currently ongoing.

Broniewice – New Road Section

Advanced work is underway on the roundabout in Broniewice (Inowrocław County) on Regional Road No. 255. Initially, the contractor is performing earthworks to build a new section of the county road toward Janikowo (up to the embankment). The old road running along the railway tracks will be dismantled. This solution will distance the new roundabout from the existing railway crossing on the Poznań-Inowrocław line.

The roundabout construction in Broniewice will be combined with the reconstruction of a 440-meter section of road No. 255, from the railway crossing to house number 300. The new three-leg roundabout will include sidewalks and pedestrian crossings. A bus bay will also be constructed (approaching from Strzelno). The project includes drainage, property access roads, field access, and lighting installation. The western island curb will be beveled to allow oversized vehicles to pass. Contractor Polbud Polak is expected to complete the PLN 5.8 million project by the end of this year.

Golub-Dobrzyń – Nearing Completion

The most advanced work is being carried out on the roundabout in Golub-Dobrzyń. Over half of the project is completed, and the central island ring has been built. Laying of the new road surface is scheduled for August.

The three-leg roundabout, 26 meters in diameter, will connect regional road No. 534 (Piłsudski Street and Rypińska Road) with the county road to Sokołowo (Sokołowska Street). The project also includes reconstruction of sidewalks, stormwater drainage, electric and telecom networks. A pedestrian-cyclist path is planned along the northern side of the regional road. The northern island curb will be beveled to accommodate oversized vehicles.

The construction work, worth PLN 3.9 million, is being carried out by PRD Lipno. Acceptance of the completed work is expected after the summer holidays. The investment is being implemented in cooperation with the Golub-Dobrzyń County and the Golub-Dobrzyń City Municipality, which co-financed the design documentation.

Dyblin – Starting with Utilities

The construction site for a new roundabout in Dyblin has been handed over to the contractor, who will start by relocating underground utilities. This includes installation of power cables for new lighting.

The three-leg roundabout, 25 meters in diameter, will connect Regional Road No. 562 (linking Dobrzyń nad Wisłą with Włocławek) with Regional Road No. 558 (linking Lipno with Dyblin). The project also includes sidewalks, stormwater drainage, electrical and telecom networks. The geometry of the roundabout entrances will force drivers to reduce speed, further enhancing safety. A reinforced concrete ring will be built around the central island to facilitate the maneuvering of heavy trucks. The roundabout, its crossings, and access roads will be illuminated.

The construction work, worth PLN 5.2 million, is being handled by Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Drogowych (PRD) from Lipno. Completion is expected later this year.
