FEdKP: health, education, energy modernisation, tourism

Today (16 December) at the Marshal’s Office, representatives of beneficiaries of our regional programme European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze (FEdKP) received project financing agreements with a total value of PLN 142 million. This time, funds are being launched, among others, for investment projects in hospitals, the construction of business-dedicated research and implementation centres, the improvement of vocational education, and energy modernisation. The ceremonial meeting was attended by Marshal Piotr Całbecki, Vice-Marshal Aneta Jędrzejewska, President of the Regional Parliament Elżbieta Piniewska, and Regional Councillor Michał Czepek.

We are closing the year in our regional programme with a strong accent; the amount of support just allocated is impressive. We are also satisfied with the pace of FEdKP implementation. We have nearly 900 signed financing agreements, which means the implementation of an equal number of projects that are very important to the regional community and local communities. Contracting in the programme has reached 60 per cent, which means the engagement of PLN 4.6 billion. Importantly, certificationour settlements with the European Commissionhas exceeded 12.5 per cent, which means we are not at risk of a punitive reduction of funds, emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

The largest of the projects launched today is the construction of a complex of specialist outpatient clinics within the Regional Integrated Hospital (Wojewódzki Szpital Zespolony) in Toruń, combined with the purchase of medical equipment and apparatus for outpatient specialist care and one-day treatment. The cost of the investment is PLN 80 million, with nearly PLN 70 million in co-financing under FEdKP.

A grant of PLN 16.4 million has been awarded to the regional Jan Czochralski Science and Technology Centre, which is commencing the construction of a network of business-dedicated research and implementation centres aimed at increasing the competitiveness of our economy.

Among the educational initiatives, two projects stand out whose final beneficiaries are the school communities of vocational schools in Grudziądz and Toruń. The Grudziądz project provides additional classes leading to labour-market-relevant qualifications in eight vocational institutions (1,100 students), support for further training for 78 teachers, and equipment upgrades for schools. The co-financing amounts to PLN 6.5 million. The Toruń project supports six vocational schools, including additional classes, career counselling, courses and internships for 750 students, postgraduate studies, courses and training for staff, as well as the purchase of equipment for laboratories and workshops in five of these schools. The co-financing amounts to PLN 4.4 million.

A total of PLN 10.2 million is being allocated to the modernisation of district heating plants and networks and to the thermal modernisation of municipal buildings. With these funds: Toruń will carry out thermal modernisation of buildings in the city’s housing stock (PLN 1 million); the municipality of Górzno in Brodnica County will undertake comprehensive modernisation of the local heating system (PLN 1.8 million); Sępólno County will build a heating plant for two educational institutions in Więcbork (PLN 1.8 million); the municipality of Sośno in Sępólno County will modernise the heating network and replace heating systems in municipal primary schools (PLN 3.2 million); the municipality of Kruszwica in Inowrocław County will carry out energy modernisation of municipal residential buildings (PLN 2.6 million); and the municipality of Rogowo in Żnin County will replace the heating system and install photovoltaic panels at the primary school in the municipal capital (PLN 0.8 million).

Also noteworthy is an interesting project by the City of Grudziądz – the construction of five jetties (for walking as well as for mooring boats and kayaks) on Lake Tarpno (near the city beach) and Lake Rudnickie Wielkie – aimed at expanding and enhancing the city’s tourism and recreational offer. FEdKP co-financing amounts to PLN 1.3 million.
