Expansion of the Pomeranian Philharmonic begins

The tender for the expansion and modernization of the Pomeranian Philharmonic building has been awarded. The selected contractor is the Polish company Unibep, which will carry out the investment project worth PLN 380 million. The new complex of the region’s oldest cultural institution operated by the Marshal’s Office is expected to be completed within 36 months.

After several years of intensive preparations, we can finally announce that the tender procedure has been successfully concluded and the investment is beginning. The selected contractor has experience in projects of this kind – Unibep has previously completed, among others, the construction of the new campus of the Music Academy in Bydgoszcz. Now we just have to wait for the finale. An exciting journey lies ahead!” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

The future extension of the complex will include, among other features, a small concert hall with seating for 350 people, a stage for a thirty-member orchestra and a thirty-member choir, professional sound and lighting systems, and backstage facilities for performers. An underground parking system is also planned. A new feature will be a publishing lounge connected to an artistic café, which will also serve as a space for art exhibitions. Plans also include opening a publicly accessible restaurant.

The current main concert hall, recognized both in Poland and abroad for its excellent acoustics, will undergo careful renovation carried out to the highest standards. One of the key objectives is to preserve its unique acoustic qualities. The hall will also gain professional facilities for concert recording and television and online broadcasting, a lighting and sound control system, and much-needed air conditioning for both the stage and audience area.

The contract with the contractor is expected to be signed within the next few weeks. The 36-month construction period will begin from the date the agreement is concluded. Financing for the investment comes from the regional budget and the centrally managed European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment (FEnIKS) 2021–2027 program. The Pomeranian Philharmonic is supported in managing the project by the regional special-purpose company Kujawsko-Pomorskie Inwestycje Regionalne.
