Domestic Violence: Training for Representatives of the Justice System

Physical violence, hidden forms of control, emotional manipulation — how can they be effectively identified? Today (28 November), judges and prosecutors working in courts and prosecutor’s offices in our region are taking part in a specialized training session dedicated to recognizing various forms of domestic violence, including those most difficult to detect in the practice of the justice system.

The training program includes, among other topics:

  • identifying signs of violence
  • discussing the cycle of domestic violence and mechanisms that sustain abusive relationships
  • psychological consequences of violence
  • challenges in working with individuals entangled in abusive situations

The training was opened by Jacek Habant, Head of the Social Policy Department at the Marshal’s Office. The session is led by Beata Kita — a psychologist with 30 years of experience, a certified supervisor and psychotherapist, who has worked for many years both with individuals experiencing violence and those who perpetrate it.
