Construction of the new wing of the Marshal’s Regional Children’s Hospital is underway

At the Regional Children’s Hospital complex in Bydgoszcz, construction teams are erecting a state-of-the-art Organ Diagnostic Center building, which will house two MRI suites, a cytometry laboratory, and endoscopy and ultrasound examination rooms. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of next year, with equipment procurement planned for the first months of 2027.

“Hospitals—especially those of key importance—must be continuously modernized, which means purchasing the latest-generation medical equipment and expanding hospital facilities. We are investing to maintain a high level of diagnostics and treatment. The Bydgoszcz hospital, which performs advanced medical procedures, is among the best in the country,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Currently, intensive structural works (reinforcement, concreting, and foundation laying) and installation works (electrical and water-sewage systems) are in progress at the construction site. A large tower crane is also being assembled to facilitate the next stages of the project. Structural works will continue over the coming weeks, and construction of a rainwater retention tank is also planned.

The emerging three-story building, with a usable area of 3,500 square meters, will accommodate diagnostic laboratories equipped with the latest technology—two MRI rooms, a cytometry lab, an endoscopy lab, and an ultrasound lab relocated from the existing building—as well as a two-level parking garage with 93 spaces. The new facility will be functionally connected to the existing building of the hospital’s specialist outpatient clinics.

The total cost of the investment is PLN 77 million. Equipment purchases, including modern multi-organ imaging diagnostic systems, will account for half of this amount. The project is financed under the regional program for the 2021–2027 perspective.
