Congratulations, Professor!

Prof. Bogusław Buszewski, an outstanding analytical chemist and president of the Prof. Jan Czochralski Kujawsko-Pomorskie Centre for Science and Technology, has been honoured with the prestigious Martin Medal awarded by the British Chromatographic Society. The ceremony took place in Bruges during the 54th International Chromatography Conference. Congratulations!

We are proud and warmly congratulate the professor,’ wrote Marshal Piotr Całbecki on social media.

Chromatography is a group of analytical techniques used to separate or study the composition of mixtures of chemical compounds. The British ChromSoc is a scientific organisation founded in 1956 to promote and disseminate knowledge on ‘all aspects of chromatography and related separation techniques’. The patron of the award is Archer Martin, an English chemist and graduate of the University of Cambridge, who in 1952 received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry (together with Richard Synge) for his groundbreaking work on partition chromatography.

‘Prof. Buszewski received (…) [the Martin Medal] for his significant contribution to (…) a better understanding of metal absorption kinetics, the analysis of volatile organic compounds and environmental analysis techniques,’ reads the website of Nicolaus Copernicus University, the laureate’s alma mater. Prof. Buszewski is a renowned specialist in analytical chemistry and environmental chemistry, and the founder of the Polish school of chromatography.
