Christmas Workshops in the Glow of the Marshal’s Christmas Tree

Christmas Workshops at the Marshal’s Office

This evening (14 December), Marshal Piotr Całbecki and the youngest residents of the region switched on the lights of the Christmas tree in front of the Marshal’s Office. The highlight of the “Starry Christmas with the Marshal” event was preceded by workshops and communal carol singing.

“Wishing each other well by the glow of the Christmas tree is a cherished tradition, associated with family warmth and love,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “May the Christmas tree, also this year, bring joy to the residents of our region as they celebrate the holidays with their loved ones.”

At precisely 3 p.m., a festive parade set off from the Nicolaus Copernicus monument in the Old Town Market and, accompanied by the brass band from Świecie, proceeded through the historic streets to Teatralny Square. In front of the Marshal’s Office, carols were performed by:

  • the brass band from Świecie
  • Asia Czajkowska
  • Maciej Rumiński
  • Bartek Staszkiewicz
  • Sara Pach

As always, children enthusiastically took part in workshops creating Christmas tree ornaments and holiday decorations from eco-friendly materials. Traditional gingerbread baking, following the Marshal’s family recipe, was also part of the festivities.

The workshops were organized by the Children’s Art Gallery and Centre of Creativity in Toruń, the Młyn Wiedzy Science Centre, and the We Are For You Foundation.

The most spectacular moment of the event was switching on the Christmas tree lights. The tree, brought to Toruń from Raciniewo, was selected by Marshal Piotr Całbecki and children from Chełmno County in a beautiful winter setting.
