Children’s Day could be every day! | Województwo Kujawsko-Pomorskie

On Friday morning, the Marshal’s Office was transformed into a place full of children’s joy and curiosity. On the occasion of Children’s Day, we hosted the youngest residents of the region – preschoolers from the Toruń institutions ‘Promyczek’ and ‘Mali Giganci’, who were welcomed by the Vice-Marshal Aneta Jędrzejewska.

‘Children’s Day is a celebration of joy, creativity and curiosity about the world – values that are extremely important to us. We are delighted to have been able to welcome the young residents of the region today and show them that the office is an open place,’ said Piotr Całbecki, Marshal of the Province.

According to data from the end of 2024, more than 372,000 children and young people under the age of 18 live in our region. The largest group are primary school pupils – children aged 7–14, of whom there are almost 169,000. Among them, 14-year-olds constitute a particularly large group – as many as 23,000 young residents of the region are finishing primary school at this age and preparing for the next stage of their education.

In addition to celebrating together, today’s meeting was also an excellent opportunity for education. The children visited the office, looked into the session hall and learned about the daily work of the office behind the scenes. During the visit, they also learned what the provincial marshal does and many interesting facts about the region. It is surprising how much they know and how accurately they can ask questions!

International Children’s Day has been celebrated in Poland since 1950, and its aim is to promote the rights of the youngest and remind us of their needs and importance in society. It is a time of joy, but also of reflection on how to support children’s development and create a friendly environment for them.
