Budget 2025: A Forward-Looking Region Investing in Education

Nearly 220 million PLN – this is how much the regional self-government will spend this year on education-related initiatives. We provide scholarships for the best students, organize additional classes for children, youth, and teachers, and support the region’s flagship institutions in expanding research opportunities and enriching educational programs.

The strength of the region’s development lies in its people—their knowledge, skills, and activity. We provide financial support to institutions, good initiatives, and young individuals who see education as an opportunity for personal growth and self-fulfillment. The regional self-government’s actions in this area impact the reality of all educational institutions in the region,
– emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

We want children and young people to have the conditions to fully develop their potential. That’s why we award annual Marshal’s scholarships of up to 5,000 PLN to students of all school types. The total budget for three student-focused projects—two of which are co-financed by the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027—exceeds 7 million PLN.

For the Youngest

More than 1,500 preschoolers participate in daily English classes as part of the pilot stage of the Marshal’s project “Bilingual Preschoolers of Kujawy and Pomorze.” Thanks to EU funds from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-27, preschools have also been equipped with educational materials and teaching aids.

Additional Classes

Thirty-one municipal and local governments from across the region are participating in the regional self-government’s project “Key to Learning 3.0,” funded by our regional program. This project, which includes extracurricular classes and workshops, is aimed at students in 7th and 8th grade as well as their teachers. The goal is to improve education levels and develop students’ so-called key competencies, increasing their chances of continuing their education at selected schools and thriving in society.

Goal: Youth Development

Additionally, through local action groups, we are allocating 70 million PLN to projects for children and youth. Sports and dance classes, programming and robotics, art workshops, survival trips, cinema and theater outings—these are just a few of the opportunities made possible by funding from the Marshal’s Civic Budget.

The Birth of the Energy Mill

A new cultural and educational institution under the Marshal’s Office is being built in Grudziądz at a cost of 50 million PLN. Managed by the regional Kujawsko-Pomorskie Center for Education and Innovation, the project involves revitalizing the historic Upper Mill of Grudziądz and transforming it into Energy Mill—a public space dedicated to culture, education, and artistic events. This initiative is a joint effort of the regional and municipal governments.

This year, we will allocate over 1.3 million PLN to resume design work on the Palace and Park Complex in Wieniec and conduct an architectural and construction design competition for the future Energy Innovation Center in Inowrocław.
