Bridge in Wieniec Completed

A thorough modernization of the entire 11-kilometer-long regional road No. 268 from Brzezie to Brześć Kujawski in Włocławek County is underway. Drivers are already using the reconstructed bridge over the Zgłowiączka River. In addition to road modernization, the investment also includes the construction of a pedestrian and bicycle path.

We have recently significantly accelerated the implementation of road investments, which is particularly visible in the southeastern part of the region, emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki. – The thorough modernization of the route from Brzezie to Brześć Kujawski will improve, among other things, access to the Brzeska Economic Zone.

The modernization includes laying new pavement layers, reconstructing intersections, building bus platforms and bays, and equipping the road with safety-enhancing elements such as barriers, road signs, and illuminated pedestrian crossings. A pedestrian and bicycle path will be built along the entire route. The construction of stormwater drainage systems has been planned for Wieniec and Brzezie, while other sections will have ditches ensuring proper road drainage. A technological conduit will also be built along the road, allowing for the future installation of new networks, such as telecommunication lines, without interfering with the road structure.

The contractor has laid the foundation and initial pavement layers on sections between Brzezie and Wieniec as well as between Wieniec and Stary Brześć Parcele. All work is being carried out in a half-road system (without closing the entire road). The reconstruction of the intersection leading to the logistics center is also underway. In spring, further stages of modernization are planned, including sections passing through Brzezie, Wieniec, and Stary Brześć.

During the project phase, solutions were implemented to avoid the need for roadside tree removal.

The investment is being carried out by a consortium of companies, Kobylarnia SA and Mirbud SA, at a cost exceeding 62 million PLN. The funding comes from the regional budget and the government’s strategic investment program under the Polish Deal. All work is expected to be completed by mid-next year.

Upcoming Road Investments in Włocławek County in 2025:

  • Modernization of regional road No. 269 on the Izbica Kujawska – Chotel section (2.5 km)

  • Modernization of regional road No. 270 on the Izbica Kujawska – regional border section (4.7 km)

Additionally, pedestrian crossings will be illuminated in 2025. The project includes lighting for 249 pedestrian crossings and 27 bus stops across the region. In Włocławek County, crossings on regional roads No. 252 (Inowrocław-Włocławek) and No. 317 (Włocławek-Kruszyn) will be illuminated.

Record Spending on Roads

A total of 2 billion PLN will be allocated to the regional road modernization program for the coming years.
