Bridge in Pturek Opened

We have completed the modernization of Regional Road No. 251 on the Pturek–Młodocin route in Żnin County. Today (April 18), the renovated section of the road and the bridge over the Noteć River were officially opened to traffic. The investment, worth over PLN 10 million, was financed from the budget of the regional self-government.

“Regional Road No. 251 is one of the busiest routes in the region,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “In recent years, nearly the entire route has been modernized with support from the Regional Operational Program. Now we are opening another stretch that is safe for drivers.”

The project included strengthening the road structure, restoring the shoulders, demolishing and constructing a new culvert, and renovating the road section and bridge over the Noteć River. The bridge received a new surface, safety railings, and anti-glare screens designed to protect endangered bird species migrating along the river. Existing access roads were also rebuilt. The entire route was updated with new vertical and horizontal road markings.

Additional works were carried out during the project, including subsoil reinforcement, changes to the road design, repairs to stonework elements on the old Noteć bridge, and new transition plates at the bridge’s approaches.

The work was carried out by a consortium of companies: Polbud-Pomorze from Łącko (Inowrocław County) and PRD Inodrog from Inowrocław.

Upcoming Investments

This year in Żnin County, we also plan to add lighting to several pedestrian crossings along Road 251 in Barcin, Krotoszyn, Wapienno, and Piechcin.

A tender is underway for the construction of a new roundabout in Barcin at the intersection of Pakoska and Mogileńska Streets (Regional Road No. 254). The investment will be implemented with support from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021–2027. These funds will also help improve safety at the intersection of Dworcowa and A. Mickiewicz Streets in Żnin. We plan to install traffic lights at the intersection of Road 251 with the former national road.

Record Road Investments

We are allocating PLN 2 billion to the regional road modernization program for the coming years. Under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021–2027 (our regional program for the new funding period), EUR 136 million will be spent on road investments, including the regional bypass construction program. Additional funding from central sources will also support parts of the road infrastructure expansion (about PLN 170 million for bypasses and around PLN 450 million for other road expansions).

Currently, roadworks and renovations worth nearly half a billion złoty are underway on regional roads.
