Birthday Wishes for Distinguished Jubilarians

We remembered our distinguished celebrants – Mrs. Urszula Tauer, celebrating her 104th birthday, and Mrs. Józefa Michalska, who recently turned 100. Flowers and birthday wishes on behalf of the regional self-government were delivered by Regional Executive Board Member Marek Wojtkowski and Regional Parliament Councillor Robert Malinowski.

Mrs. Józefa Michalska was born on April 28, 1925. Like many from her generation, she was forced into labor during World War II. After the war, she settled in Dusocin (Grudziądz County), where she and her husband Aleksander ran a farm. The Michalscy family raised four children, and today Mrs. Józefa enjoys the company of a large family, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On the occasion of her centenary, Mrs. Józefa was visited by Councillor Robert Malinowski, who presented this everyday-life heroine with the Marshal’s Medal Unitas Durat Palatinatus Cuiaviano-Pomeraniensis.

On April 24, Mrs. Urszula Tauer celebrated her 104th birthday. She was a liaison for the Union of Armed Struggle – Home Army, a participant in the Warsaw Uprising, a recipient of the Order of Polonia Restituta, and the last living officer of the Home Army. During the war, she served as a courier and liaison.

“If I had to fight for my homeland today, I would be the first to stand in line,” she said in an interview. On her birthday, she was visited by Regional Executive Board Member Marek Wojtkowski.

In 2021, Mrs. Urszula Tauer was awarded the Marshal’s Medal Unitas Durat Palatinatus Cuiaviano-Pomeraniensis in a special edition struck to mark the centenary of Poland’s regained independence.
