Another safe intersection to be built in Żnin County
We will rebuild twenty-three intersections in the coming years as part of our program to eliminate dangerous spots on regional roads. A tender is currently underway for the construction of a roundabout in Barcin, on Regional Road No. 254 in Żnin County. We are also commissioning additional investments along the route connecting Brzoza near Bydgoszcz with Mogilno.
“Safety is a key aspect when it comes to road modernization,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “As part of our comprehensive road development program, we are building new roundabouts, sidewalks, and illuminated pedestrian crossings. We are using European funds to finance these projects.”
The investment will be carried out at the intersection of Pakoska, 4 Stycznia, Polna, and Mogileńska streets. A four-entry roundabout will replace the current intersection with broken priority rules. The traffic lanes before the roundabout will be separated by islands with pedestrian crossings and bicycle crossings. Driveways to properties and illuminated crossings will also be built. The project includes the reconstruction of underground infrastructure. The roundabout will also be adapted to allow the passage of oversized vehicles. We will finance the project using funds from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021–2027. Once the contract is signed, construction is expected to take around six months.
The regional road modernization program aimed at eliminating dangerous spots includes 23 projects in total. Two of them have already been completed (Sępólno Krajeńskie and Bysław). Construction is underway on a roundabout in Golub-Dobrzyń. We are currently selecting contractors for roundabouts in Broniewice (Inowrocław County) and Dyblin (Lipno County).
More investments ahead
We are preparing for the next stages of modernization on Regional Road No. 254. This year, we plan to commission, among other things, the renovation of a 4-kilometer stretch between Dąbrowa and Wszedzień (Mogilno County). We are also continuing the construction of the Mogilno bypass.
Previously, the following sections of Regional Road No. 254 have been modernized:
- from Brzoza to Łabiszyn (Bydgoszcz and Żnin counties)
- from Łabiszyn to Barcin (Żnin County)
Record-breaking road funding
The regional road modernization program for the coming years is backed by 2 billion PLN. Under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021–2027 (FEdKiP 2021–2027), our regional program for the new EU perspective, we are allocating €136 million for road investments, including our regional bypass construction program. We are also utilizing central government co-funding—about 170 million PLN for bypasses and approximately 450 million PLN for the expansion of other roads.
Some of the other major regional road investments currently underway include:
- modernization of Regional Road No. 563 (Rypin–Region border) in Rypin County,
- construction of the Mogilno bypass on Road No. 254 in Mogilno County,
- modernization of Regional Road No. 268 from Brzezie to Brześć Kujawski in Włocławek County,
- and continued elimination of dangerous spots on regional roads.
