
A weekend in culture
The Marshal’s cultural institutions are opening a new season. At the Horzyca Theatre, from Friday to Sunday (5–7 September), audiences can see Breath and Miracle. The Pomeranian Philharmonic invites the public on Friday (5 September) to the concert A Musical Trace. Mietek Szcześniak Symphonically. We are also joining the 14th edition of the National Reading campaign.
Henryk Sienkiewicz’s Kmicic, Władysław Reymont’s Borowiecki, and Adam Mickiewicz’s Gerwazy all have the face of actor Daniel Olbrychski, who today (4 September), during the 11th Przeźrocza Film Festival in Bydgoszcz, will receive the Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region Film Award named after Pola Negri. The award will be presented by Vice-Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski. Before the ceremony, the film Jowita starring Daniel Olbrychski will be shown. The regional self-government is supporting Przeźrocza with 350,000 PLN.
The Pomeranian Philharmonic concert program will feature Mietek Szcześniak’s most important songs presented in new orchestral arrangements by Nikola Kołodziejczyk, Krzesimir Dębski, and Krzysztof Herdzin. The vocalist will be accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra conducted by Krzysztof Herdzin.
This year’s National Reading selection is the poetry of Jan Kochanowski. On Friday (5 September), the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Heritage Center in Toruń and the Copernicus Library will host a joint reading of The Dismissal of the Greek Envoys. The event, organized across both locations (the Heritage Center and the Copernicus Library), will be accompanied by an exhibition, a lecture, and a talk by Przemysław Chudzik. The initiative will also involve the Raszei Mediatheque and the Młyny Mediatheque.
The National Reading campaign will also take place at the Regional and Municipal Public Library in Bydgoszcz. On Saturday (6 September), actors from the Polish Theatre will present selected songs, laments, and epigrams.
That same day, the works of Jan Kochanowski will be presented at the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Teacher Training Centre in Włocławek.
On Saturday (6 September), the Marshal’s Lubostroń Palace will host the final concert of the Master Vocal Course participants. Admission is free.
