A training base for athletes

A modern, two-story sports hall designed for athletics and sport shooting is being built within the Zawisza Bydgoszcz club complex. In just 141 days, it will serve the participants of the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26. Under its water drop–shaped roof, athletes from all over the world will polish their form as they prepare for the heats and finals of the championships, which will take place in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Arena in Toruń. The project, now 60 percent complete, is financially supported by the regional government.

We’ve reached the halfway point!” – emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
This facility, equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, will not only expand the training base for next year’s World Athletics Indoor Championships. For the regional government, it is also an investment in the development of sport in Kujawsko-Pomorskie. I am convinced that in this hall—perfectly integrated into the existing Zawisza Bydgoszcz sports complex—future Olympic champions will hone their skills.”

The World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26 will begin on March 20. The hall in Bydgoszcz will serve as a training and acclimatization base for athletes, particularly those coming from outside Europe, before they begin competing.

On the ground floor, the facility will feature a multi-purpose athletics hall covering 6,500 square meters, equipped with a six-lane oval track, an eight-lane straight track, and areas for technical events (shot put, high jump, long jump, triple jump, and pole vault). According to the standards of the Polish Athletic Association, the facility will be suitable for both training and athletic competitions.

The shooting range section, covering 3,200 square meters, will be located on the underground level and equipped with shooting stations for distances of 10, 25, and 50 meters.

The total cost of the investment is PLN 84 million, with PLN 14 million contributed by the regional government.

Currently, work is underway on flooring, installation of internal systems, construction of the track structure, and parking facilities. Employees of Strabag, the project contractor, are also preparing to install an elevator and equipment for the shooting stations.

The construction is scheduled for completion in March 2026.
