A modern school of tomorrow – educational investments in 2026

Nearly PLN 240 million will be allocated next year by the regional self-government for tasks related to education and schooling. We award scholarships to the best students, organise additional classes for children, young people and teachers, and support the region’s flagship institutions in developing their research facilities and expanding their educational offer.

“The region’s development is based on the potential of its residents – their competences, commitment and readiness to act. We provide financial support to institutions and valuable initiatives, as well as to young people who see gaining knowledge as an opportunity for personal development and self-fulfilment. The regional self-government’s activities in this field affect the reality of all educational institutions in the region,” emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

We want children and young people to have the conditions to fully realise their potential, which is why every year we award Marshal’s Office scholarships to students of all types of schools – up to PLN 5,000 per year. The total budget of the three student projects exceeds PLN 7 million. Two of them (Prymus Pomorza i Kujaw II and Zawodowe Talenty Kujaw i Pomorza) are co-financed from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027, while the Prymus Pomorza i Kujaw Plus programme is financed from the region budget.

For the youngest

Two thousand preschoolers take part in daily English classes under the Marshal’s Office project “Bilingual preschoolers of Kujawy and Pomorze”. Thanks to EU funding from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027, the institutions were also equipped with educational materials and teaching aids.

Additional classes

Thirty-one city and municipal local governments from across the region participate in the regional self-government project “Key to Learning 3.0”, financed under our regional programme. The project, which also includes additional English and mathematics classes, is addressed to students in grades 7 and 8 of primary schools. Its aim is to raise the quality of education and develop students’ so-called key competences, which should give young people the chance to continue education at selected schools and function well in social life.

Six thousand students from 110 schools are taking part in the “Direction – Profession” project, which helps young people choose their future career. The partners, alongside the Region Labour Office (WUP), include 52 local governments that run primary schools and secondary schools in our region. By 2027, students will participate in activities with career counsellors, teachers and educators, using modern tools such as VR goggles that help discover students’ professional predispositions. Six hundred of them will take part in individual consultations.

Goal: youth development

In addition, through local action groups we are allocating PLN 70 million for projects for children and young people. Sports and dance activities, programming and robotics, artistic workshops, trips to cinemas and theatres – these are just some of the opportunities offered by funds from the Marshal’s participatory budget.
