A green avenue will be created along another provincial road

We are continuing our programme to restore green avenues. More than 400 trees will soon appear along provincial road no. 266, which connects, among others, the Aleksandrów district with the A1 motorway. We are planning further investments on this important Kujawy route.

Green alleys are one of the characteristic elements of the landscape of Kujawsko-Pomorskie,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki. – We have started to restore them in order to make up for the losses in the ecosystem which accompany various investments. Another voivodship road will soon take on a green character.

Along voivodeship road No. 266 between Ciechocinek and Zakrzew, we will plant 440 mature trees. These will mainly be lime trees and maples. A tender procedure is under way to select a contractor, whose responsibilities will include preparing the site, supplying large seedlings (at a height of 1.3 metres the trees must have a trunk circumference of about 20 centimetres), carrying out the planting, care (fertilising and watering) and making retention basins. The task will use funds from the European Funds for Kuyavia and Pomerania for 2021-27.

Previously, new trees appeared, among others, along provincial road 553 Toruń-Wybcz in the Toruń district. We also carried out a large package of new plantings along modernised provincial roads – No. 548 (Stolno-Wąbrzeźno) and No. 254 (Brzoza-Łabiszyn-Barcin).

The planting was combined with additional agro-technical measures, including crown shaping. Corrective pruning and the removal of dry branches and regrowth will affect 455 existing trees – this will help to extend their lifespan.

Further investment on an important road

This year, the regional government has secured funds in the budget for, among other things, the reconstruction of a 2.5-kilometre section of provincial road 266 Piotrków Kujawski – Wójcin in the Radziejów district. In Zakrzewo, pedestrian crossings along DW no. 252 (Inowrocław – Włocławek) at junctions with provincial road no. 266 will be illuminated.

Final work is being carried out on the design documentation for a new roundabout in Ośno (at the junction of the voivodeship road and the district road to Nieszawa). We will have the design and necessary permits this year, which will then allow us to commission the construction work. We will finance the task using the European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie 21-27 (EFKP 2021-2027).

EU funds at the disposal of the regional government are consistently being transferred to local authorities for cycling infrastructure. In November last year, a contract was signed to co-finance with FEdKP 2021-2027 funds the construction of a pedestrian and cycle path along Szybka Street in Radziejów. The new route will be approximately 1.4 km long.

Record expenditure on roads

A total of PLN 2 billion will be spent on the provincial road modernisation programme for the coming years. Within the framework of the European Funds for Kuyavia and Pomerania 2021-2027, €136 million will be allocated for road investments, including, among others, our regional programme for the construction of bypasses. For some of the tasks related to the expansion of road infrastructure, we will also use the central funding we have obtained (around PLN 170 million for bypasses and around PLN 450 million for the expansion of other roads).

Currently, the most important road investments carried out on voivodeship roads include

  • modernisation of voivodeship road no. 268 from Brzezie to Brześć Kujawskie in the poviat of Włocławek
  • modernisation of voivodeship road no. 563 Rypin – voivodeship border in the poviat of Rypin
  • construction of the Mogilno bypass within voivodeship road no. 254 in the poviat of Mogilno
