A Christmas Album of Carols – Musical Greetings from Kujawy and Pomorze
We invite you to listen to a Christmas album of carols released by the Marshal’s Office. This year’s album, traditionally enclosed with Christmas greetings from Marshal Piotr Całbecki and the Chair of the Regional Parliament, Elżbieta Piniewska, features the most beautiful Polish carols and pastoral songs in outstanding arrangements for a string orchestra.
“Singing and listening to Polish carols has traditionally brought the atmosphere of Christmas into our homes. I encourage everyone to nurture and continue this beautiful tradition,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
The album was recorded by an orchestra composed of young musicians from the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region—students of music academies—together with outstanding Polish instrumentalists.
The recordings feature:
- Krzysztof Jakowicz, Jakub Jakowicz, Katarzyna Duda – violins
- Katarzyna Budnik – viola
- Marcin Zdunik, Tomasz Strahl, Maria Leszczyńska – cellos
- Tomasz Januchta – double bass
The album includes nine tracks—both well-known carols such as Przybieżeli do Betlejem (Come Hasten to Bethlehem) and Cicha noc (Silent Night), as well as less obvious but exceptionally atmospheric pieces, including Kolęda z filmu Miś (Carol from the film “Teddy Bear”). The sound of violins, viola, cellos, and double bass creates a warm, intimate atmosphere that perfectly captures the spirit of Christmas.

The carol arrangements were prepared by Maria Leszczyńska, Jerzy Derfel, Hadrian Tąbecki, and Marcin Zdunik.
Equally remarkable as the musical content is the album’s graphic design. The cover was created by Monika Wawrzyniak-Fijałkowska, who drew inspiration from the atmosphere of a Christmas town—holiday markets, winter preparations, and the festive season. The entire composition is enclosed in the form of a glass snow globe, with falling snow symbolizing winter and Christmas. The regional character is emphasized by subtle motifs of Kujavian embroidery, visible in the background of the night landscape and on the surface of the dome, resembling patterns carved by frost. Decorative gingerbread houses complete the festive composition.
The Marshal’s Office of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region has been releasing Christmas carol albums continuously since 2009.
