A century of life… celebrated threefold
On September 2, 1925, three remarkable women of our region were born: Mrs. Stefania Kamińska of Bydgoszcz, Mrs. Stefania Wolańczyk of Inowrocław, and Mrs. Bronisława Kłos of Gorzan in Inowrocław County. Today, each of them celebrates the extraordinary milestone of their 100th birthday. To mark this unique occasion, Vice-Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region Zbigniew Ostrowski and Executive Board Member Dariusz Kurzawa visited the jubilarians, presenting them with the Unitas Durat Palatinatus Cuiaviano-Pomeraniensis medals.
“May the kindness with which you enrich the lives of others return to you many times over, in the form of care, affection, and the devotion of your loved ones. May each day bring you joy, love, and comfort,” conveyed Marshal of the Region Piotr Całbecki in his official greetings.
Stefania Kamińska – a homemaker with a heart for flowers
She was born in Bydgoszcz, into a railway family. As a teenager, she experienced displacement and forced labor. After the war, she found employment at the Blumwe factory in Bydgoszcz, where she met her future husband. Within her family, she became renowned as a master of traditional cuisine – her chicken broth and duck blood soup with potato dumplings remain cherished memories for her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Kamińska’s home was always full of vitality – adorned with flowers, animals, and, above all, the presence of loved ones, who remain her greatest pride and joy.
Stefania Wolańczyk – a spirit of resilience and cheer
Hailing from Inowrocław, she grew up in a family deeply rooted in patriotic traditions – her father had been a participant in the Greater Poland Uprising. During the war, she and her family were displaced to Lubartów. Upon their return, she first worked as a conductor and later in Bydgoszcz’s clothing factories. Widowed for over half a century, she raised a daughter on her own. Despite the adversities she faced, she has preserved a cheerful disposition – to this day enjoying colorful magazines and crossword puzzles, often repeating with a smile: “They said I was the weakest, and yet I have lived the longest.”
Bronisława Kłos – devoted to family and work
Born into the farming family of Rzekanowski, she was forced, still in her teens, into hard wartime labor digging trenches. After the war, she settled in Janikowo, where in 1948 she married Bernard Kłos. Together they raised four children, and were blessed with ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Kłos had a lifelong passion for reading, especially historical works and romances. She became known as an exceptional homemaker – her cakes, yeast pastries, and Sunday coffee became the centerpiece of family gatherings. Gifted with practical skills, she could sew, swam well, and always cultivated elegance and order. Even after facing a serious illness in 1986, she preserved her resilience of spirit, which continues to inspire her family to this day.
Since 2018, Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region self-government has honored centenarians residing in the region. Families of residents approaching this exceptional milestone – or of those already blessed with even greater longevity – are warmly invited to contact us at 56 62 18 344 or via email at stulatkowie@kujawsko-pomorskie.pl.
