70 million zlotys for investments in the hospital in Grudziądz

The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Development Fund (KPFR) of the Marshal’s Office will finance a comprehensive modernization of the Regional Specialist Hospital (RSS) in Grudziądz through a preferential loan. The multi-stage investment, expected to be completed next year, includes the purchase of advanced medical equipment as well as the revitalization and modernization of selected segments of the hospital complex.

At the initial stage, the facility will purchase a robotic surgery system and carry out the necessary adaptation of the operating room related to its installation. It will also replace its IT system for storing, retrieving, and transmitting medical imaging records – PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) – with a newer version. The value of this phase of the project is 21 million zlotys.

The agreement was signed today in Grudziądz by KPFR President Kamila Radziecka and hospital director Agata Kurkowska in the presence of Marshal Piotr Całbecki, Secretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior and Administration Tomasz Szymański, Senator Ryszard Bober, Mayor of Grudziądz Maciej Glamowski, Regional Councillors Robert Malinowski and Michał Czepek, and the Regional Secretary Marek Smoczyk.

“We all know the financial situation of the Grudziądz facility, which is why creating a financing path for these currently necessary investment projects was not easy. Because the hospital is an institution of strategic importance to the healthcare system in our region, the regional government has taken on the responsibility and financial risk. Today’s 21 million zlotys is the first tranche of funds; soon we will undertake further commitments so that ultimately the hospital receives the 70 million zlotys we have declared,” Marshal Piotr Całbecki told journalists in Grudziądz today. He emphasized that the indebted hospital is balancing its current accounts, which in this situation is not easy and must be the result of the hard work of its management. He added that he hopes the government will create a mechanism to relieve institutions such as the Grudziądz hospital of their debt burden.

In the next stages, the Regional Specialist Hospital will purchase a spectral CT scanner and a coronary angiography system, modernize the operating block and rooms for interventional radiology and endoscopy units, and also revitalize the pediatric wing.

The funds made available to RSS by KPFR come from resources returned from financial instruments for enterprises under the 2014-2020 perspective. The loans granted to the hospital will be largely written off after the proper implementation of the purchases and other elements of the investment package.
