On Thursday (19 June), the first direct regional train of the season departed from the railway station in Bydgoszcz for Hel. Passengers using the connections organised by the provincial government will also be able to travel to popular holiday destinations such as Jastarnia, Jurata, Chałupy, Kuźnice, Władysławowo and the Tri-City throughout the summer holidays. The ‘Latarnik’ train from Bydgoszcz departs daily before 7 a.m. Timetable.

 

‘I am glad that the residents of our region can now use the direct train connection to Hel, co-financed by the provincial government. I wish everyone a pleasant journey and a safe and enjoyable holiday by the sea,’ says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

 

The name ‘Latarnik’ for the train running to Hel was given by passengers. Arriva, the company operating the service, announced a competition, which received as many as 2,000 suggestions. Fourteen people who suggested the winning name received travel vouchers and gift packages for naming the train.

 

Connections with other towns in the region have been organised to make it easier for passengers to change to Latarnik at the station in Laskowice Pomorskie. Timetable from Grudziądz.

 

To Kołobrzeg

 

In just a week, the popular direct holiday train connections to Kołobrzeg will also be resumed. The seasonal weekend train ‘Rybitwa’ will return to the tracks on 28 June.

 

This offer is complemented by a new direct train to Kołobrzeg, which has been running to Kołobrzeg on weekdays since 16 June. This train will become a permanent fixture in the timetable.

 

To Szczecin

 

In cooperation with the local governments of the West Pomeranian and Greater Poland provinces, the ‘Barnim’ train runs daily from Bydgoszcz Główna station to Szczecin Główny station, providing passengers with direct access to the capital of the Zachodnipomorskie Region and the West Coast.

 

In 2025, the Marshal’s Office’s subsidies for regional passenger transport will amount to PLN 237 million. This amount includes compensation costs for Arriva and Polregio, as well as costs of access to railway infrastructure and station fees – PLN 31.3 million.

 

Seventy-five per cent of trains providing regional passenger services belong to the provincial government. The Marshal’s Office’s fleet of railway vehicles is growing steadily. Seven more modern trains ordered from Pesa in Bydgoszcz will soon be put into service.
