Residents from across the entire voivodeship have joined the sporting countdown to the World Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26. Only two days remain until the most important athletics event of the season. Yesterday (17 March) we met at a family tournament in Trzebcz Szlachecki (Chełmno County). Today (18 March) we will meet during a training session of GKM Grudziądz, and tomorrow during a run in Radziejów. WIC Kujawy Pomorze 2026

“I would like to thank all residents, athletes, coaches, schools, clubs and local communities for actively participating in our relay. Every meeting, every symbolic passing of the baton and every form of activity together create a coherent story about a region that is responsible, active and consciously cares about the health of its residents. Thanks to your involvement, sport in our region shows its strength and diversity,” emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

“I already invite everyone to cheer together – both at the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Arena Toruń and in the fan zone at Nowomiejski Market Square in Toruń. Together we are creating these championships!”

50 Relays of Kujawy Pomorze is a series of events organised during the fifty days leading up to the World Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26. Each meeting was an opportunity for shared physical activity, integration and the promotion of an active lifestyle. The initiative involved athletes from local clubs as well as amateurs, children and youth, entire families and seniors.

The relay baton, symbolically passed between 50 municipalities, will cover 6,100 kilometres. Photos from all the stops – attended by a total of 5,000 participants – will be presented on the day of the championships’ opening (20 March) on display boards set up along Queen Jadwiga Street (from Empik to the fan village).

The initiative will conclude with a championship parade in Toruń (20 March, 3:30 p.m.) – a march of children and members of sports clubs (starting at Nowomiejski Market Square and ending at Old Town Market Square). At 4:00 p.m., a concert celebrating the opening of the championships will take place. The performers will include Dawid Kwiatkowski, Ray Wilson and Gromee. Admission is free.
