Happy Summer Holidays!
Nearly 337,000 students across the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region are finishing the school year today. After months of classes, tests and examinations, it is finally time for a well-deserved break. Marshal Piotr Całbecki attended the official end-of-year ceremony at the General Stanisław Maczek Kujawsko-Pomorskie Special Educational Centre No. 2 for Hard of Hearing and Deaf Children and Youth in Bydgoszcz.
“The summer holidays are now ahead of you – a well-earned time to rest. Make the most of this opportunity so that you can return to school next year with enthusiasm and renewed energy. I wish you joyful, active and, above all, safe holidays filled with wonderful memories that you will carry back with you when you return to the classroom,”.
A Modern School Designed for Students
The Bydgoszcz educational centre serves 244 students from the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region and neighbouring regions. It provides education at every stage, from primary school through general secondary school, technical secondary school, first- and second-level vocational schools, as well as post-secondary education and programmes preparing students for employment. The centre also offers early intervention services for children with hearing impairments, providing specialist support from the moment a disability is diagnosed until the child begins primary education.
The regional self-government regularly invests in the development and modernization of the centre. Thanks to funding from the Regional Operational Programme of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region 2014-2020, a new two-storey building with ten modern vocational training laboratories has been constructed. Students gain practical skills in fields including electrical engineering, gastronomy, dental technology, cosmetology, hairdressing, horticulture and floristry. The investment was worth more than PLN 11 million, including PLN 7 million in European Union funding.
The new educational facilities were complemented by a project that enabled students to develop their skills through additional classes and internships with employers.
Further investments are planned, including the construction of a sports field and the installation of two elevators in the centre’s boarding facilities.
Education by the Numbers
The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region has approximately:
- 700 primary schools,
- nearly 230 general secondary schools,
- almost 300 technical and vocational schools.
These institutions employ nearly 47,000 teachers, including more than 25,000 fully qualified certified teachers.
Nearly 2,500 students from 50 primary schools are participating in the “Key to Learning 3.0” project. Through additional English and mathematics classes and innovative teaching methods, they are learning more quickly, more effectively and with greater motivation.
