Students from Inowrocław Love Film
The best works submitted by young filmmakers to the 4th National Piotr Machalica National Film Festival will be announced on Friday at the Municipal Theatre in Inowrocław.
The festival, held under the motto “Because I Love Film”, is organized by Primary School No. 6 in Inowrocław. The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Regional Self-Government supports the event financially. The festival is an annual competition for short film productions. Students from primary and secondary schools across Poland submit their own films, which are then evaluated by a professional jury. The leading theme of this year’s fourth edition is loneliness among children and young people.
The gala finale, during which this year’s winners will be announced, will take place on Friday, 15 May, at the Municipal Theatre in Inowrocław. Winners in both school categories will receive the “Golden Sixes” awards.
The patron of the Inowrocław festival is Piotr Machalica, the outstanding film and theatre actor who passed away in 2020. Audiences remember him for his acclaimed performances, including Father Piotr Wawrzyniak in the historical TV series Najdłuższa wojna nowoczesnej Europy, Dr. Olgierd Pasikonik in the comedy Sztuka kochania, and Captain Popczyk in the crime drama Zabij mnie glino directed by Jacek Bromski.
He also appeared in A Short Film About Love and Dekalog IX by Krzysztof Kieślowski, as well as in Day of the Wacko by Marek Koterski.
Machalica was also a respected performer of actor’s songs, interpreting works by Bulat Okudzhava, Vladimir Vysotsky, Georges Brassens, and Wojciech Młynarski.
For many years he served as artistic director of the Adam Mickiewicz Theatre in Częstochowa. As an actor, he was associated with, among others, the Powszechny Theatre in Warsaw, Polonia Theatre, and Och-Teatr.
