New Railway Stations and Stops
Modern railway infrastructure is being developed along our railway lines – including the comprehensive modernization of stations in Grudziądz and Ciechocinek, as well as new railway stops in Nakło nad Notecią and Bydgoszcz, making regional rail travel more convenient for passengers. More and more people are using these connections. In 2025, we carried 8 million passengers.
“Alongside expanding the network of connections and introducing new timetable options, the transport policy of the regional self-government also focuses on improving travel comfort. Thanks to effective cooperation with railway companies managing railway properties and the national rail infrastructure, we are systematically modernizing railway stations and stops,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
New Station in Grudziądz
Residents have been waiting many years for the renovation of the historic railway station in Grudziądz. The building is currently in poor technical condition and requires extensive reconstruction.
As the building has been entered into the heritage register as a valuable example of post-war modernism, all works will be carried out under the supervision of a heritage conservator, requiring the preservation of original architectural elements and the historic appearance of the building.
The investor is PKP Polish State Railways, and the project is expected to take around two years. Once completed, the station will become a modern, functional, three-storey facility while retaining its historic character.
Before the main works begin, a temporary modular station building will be constructed. It will operate throughout the renovation period to ensure uninterrupted passenger service.
Bydgoszcz Stary Fordon
Construction of the new Bydgoszcz Stary Fordon passenger stop is underway in Bydgoszcz, together with modernization of the existing railway infrastructure.
The investment includes the construction of new platforms equipped with shelters, installation of lighting and a passenger information system. Expansion of the track layout also includes restoration of a passing loop, which will improve train traffic flow, increase line capacity, and enable more rail connections. Additionally, the overhead traction network and railway traffic control systems are being modernized.
The project also includes safety improvements, such as reconstruction of rail-road crossings with new traffic protection systems, modernization of pedestrian crossings, and renovation of engineering structures.
The investment is being carried out by PKP Polish Railway Lines, with works performed by Gór-Tor. The project is worth PLN 40 million and is financed in part through the National Recovery Plan funds.
Completion is planned for the second quarter of 2026.
Nakło nad Notecią Zachodnie
A new railway stop is being built in Nakło nad Notecią. The project includes construction of two platforms near Dąbrowskiego Street, equipped with shelters, benches, lighting, and a clear passenger information system.
The investment is being implemented by PKP Polish Railway Lines as part of the government program for the construction and modernization of railway stops. The contractor is also Gór-Tor, responsible for both the design documentation and construction works.
The investment is valued at PLN 13 million net. Completion is planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
Brodnica Południowa
The currently constructed Brodnica Południowa railway stop is also intended to serve residents in the southern part of Brodnica.
The works include construction of a single platform on railway line no. 33 (Kutno – Brodnica), equipped with shelters, benches, information boards, signage, and energy-efficient LED lighting. The stop will be fully accessible for people with reduced mobility.
The investment also includes safety improvements near the rail-road crossing on 18 Stycznia Street, including installation of new barriers, signaling equipment, and a monitoring system. Additional accompanying infrastructure such as bicycle racks and pedestrian and cycling routes leading to the stop will also be built.
The project, implemented by PKP Polish Railway Lines, is valued at PLN 3.4 million net and is being carried out under a “design and build” system. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2026.
Ciechocinek
The railway station building in Ciechocinek is awaiting modernization. The investment will be carried out by PKP Polish State Railways, which is currently preparing the tender process. Revitalization of the historic station will include modernization of the heating system and creation of a modern passenger area. The contract with the contractor is expected to be signed later this year. Until the works are completed, passengers will be served at a temporary station facility.
In December 2025, permanent railway connections to Ciechocinek were launched following the renovation of the seven-kilometre Aleksandrów Kujawski – Ciechocinek railway line.
The investment included replacement of 12,000 railway sleepers, renovation of eight rail-road crossings, and modernization of platforms in Ciechocinek, Odolion, and Aleksandrów Kujawski. The total cost of the project amounted to PLN 47 million.
