Millions for sports clubs in the region

Nearly PLN 8 million will be allocated to sports clubs in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region as part of this year’s edition of the ministerial program “Club Pro 2026.” The project’s objectives, experiences from previous editions, and future plans were discussed today (April 20) with representatives of sports clubs by Vice-Marshal Aneta Jędrzejewska, Vice-Chair of the Sejm Committee on Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism Małgorzata Niemczyk, Vice-Minister Arkadiusz Myrcha, and Vice-Mayor of Toruń Adam Szponka.

We don’t need to convince anyone that Kujawsko-Pomorskie is a region that loves sport. In March, we hosted the most important sporting event – the World Indoor Athletics Championships. However, for such events to take place and provide so many emotions, continuous investment is necessary – both in sports infrastructure and in young athletes,” emphasized Deputy Marshal Aneta Jędrzejewska in a conversation with journalists. “For many years, the regional government has been allocating significant funds to the development of youth sport by modernizing and building training facilities and providing financial support to young people. The ministerial ‘Club Pro’ program fits perfectly into these efforts and serves as an important complement. I am convinced that together we will ensure the best possible conditions for our athletes’ development.”

As part of the program, clubs can allocate the obtained funds, among other things, to conducting classes for children and youth, salaries for coaches and specialists such as psychologists, dietitians, physiotherapists or rehabilitation therapists, as well as the purchase of sports equipment, organization of training camps, participation in national and international competitions, and medical examinations,” pointed out Deputy Chair of the Sejm Committee on Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism Małgorzata Niemczyk. “Until now, the main funding was directed to Polish sports federations, while clubs – which carry out key grassroots work – did not have dedicated support at this level. Yet it is precisely here, in local clubs, that the most important work takes place: training children and youth and building a foundation for future national team members and Olympians. That is why systemic support and the involvement of local governments are so important.”

The aim of the ministerial “Club Pro” program is to support sports clubs that have achieved the highest number of points in the Youth Sport System ranking, based on athletes’ and clubs’ results in sports competitions. The operator of the program is the Lotto Foundation, which additionally contributes PLN 10 million to the budget. This year, the total program budget amounts to PLN 104 million. Support will be granted to 902 sports clubs, including 64 from the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship.

“The road to the highest level of sport is long and demanding, but when we hear ‘Mazurek Dąbrowskiego’ during the most important sporting events, it is a great source of joy and pride for all of us. The recent World Indoor Championships showed how much effort and how complex the process is to reach such achievements. That is why cooperation and synergy of actions are so important – at the local, regional, and national levels. Funds from support programs, including ‘Club Pro,’ help develop talent more effectively and accelerate the path to sporting success,” emphasized Deputy Mayor of Toruń Adam Szponka.

In recent months, we have met many times to discuss sporting events, the organization of competitions, and the training of children and youth. We have hosted the Minister of Sport and Tourism, Jakub Rudnicki, several times, and today’s presence of Chair Małgorzata Niemczyk also shows how much importance our region attaches to the development of sport. It is not only about national or international events, but above all about the everyday work of sports clubs – those that train the youngest. This program is dedicated precisely to them. Of course, its goal is high sporting performance in the future, but equally important is the development of young people – their health, character, perseverance, and ability to cooperate,” added Deputy Minister Arkadiusz Myrcha.
