Clean water for the residents of the Jabłonowo municipality

In Mileszewy, in the Jabłonowo Pomorskie municipality in Brodnica County, a water treatment plant was officially opened today (March 24), modernized as part of a broader project that also includes the expansion of the water supply network and upgrades to treatment plants in neighboring Góraly. The investor is the urban-rural municipality of Jabłonowo Pomorskie, which received funding for this purpose from the National Recovery Plan (KPO) through the provincial marshal’s administration. The honorary guest of the ceremony was Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Modernizing this key element of the local water system is an example of a well-executed, much-needed investment. High-quality water for households and agriculture is essential for daily life and contributes to the development of smaller towns. Potential investors always ask about infrastructure—water and sewage networks, as well as roads. Investment projects of this type remain a priority for the regional government, and where possible, we direct EU funds or our own resources to such initiatives. It is worth noting that this particular project was initially on the reserve list for support. However, following many discussions, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development ultimately decided to increase the funding allocated to our region, which made it possible to finance this very project,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki during today’s visit in Mileszewy.

The modernization of the water treatment and distribution system for Mileszewy, Góraly, and Nowa Wieś Szlachecka cost 7 million PLN, with KPO co-financing of 5 million PLN (covering 100% of eligible costs). This funding is part of the 118 million PLN allocated to the regional government for local projects in water and sewage management in rural areas. The newly opened treatment plant in Mileszewy uses very modern technology (filtration, disinfection, aeration), ensuring that tap water is now of excellent quality. The facility produces 63.5 cubic meters of high-quality water per hour, fully meeting local needs, according to municipal authorities.

During his visit to the Jabłonowo Pomorskie municipality, the regional governor also met with Mayor Marianna Fettke and the outgoing and newly appointed General Superiors of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Providence Shepherdesses, Gracjana Zborała and Flawia Paciorek. He also visited the day care center in Jabłonowo-Zamek, where he met the residents of the facility.
