World Indoor Championships Kujawy–Pomorze 26: a great celebration of the queen of sports is coming!

3 days – that’s all that remains until the most important athletics event of the season! The final preparations for the World Indoor Championships Kujawy–Pomorze 26 (WIC Kujawy–Pomorze 26) were discussed during today’s (March 17) press briefing by Marshal Piotr Całbecki, WIC Director Krzysztof Wolsztyński, the Marshal’s Plenipotentiary for the WIC and Head of the Marshal’s Office Beata Sawińska, and Director of the Department of Sport and Tourism at the Marshal’s Office, Krzysztof Wasita.

The last three years have been a time of intensive work. Everything has been efficiently coordinated, mainly thanks to our region’s strong sports community and a proven team that has successfully built the Kujawy–Pomorze brand,” emphasized Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

It is worth noting that the 3 days leading up to the championships also mark the final three events of our “50 Relays of Kujawy and Pomorze” initiative, conceived by Beata Sawińska, Head of the Marshal’s Office and Plenipotentiary for the WIC.

I would like to thank all residents, athletes, coaches, animators, schools, clubs, and local communities for their active participation in our relay. Every meeting, every symbolic baton pass, and every form of activity contribute to a coherent story about a region that is responsible, active, and consciously cares about the health of its residents,” added the Marshal.

Today (March 17), we meet at a family tournament in Trzebcz Szlachecki (Chełmno County).

Officials and athletes are already arriving in our region. Nearly 700 competitors from almost 120 national teams will take part.

It is worth emphasizing that, together with team members, nearly 1,500 people will be coming here,” noted WIC Director and President of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Athletics Association, Krzysztof Wolsztyński.
We already know that athletes feel good here, as reflected in their performances at the Orlen Copernicus Cup meeting. Now they will compete for the highest honors – world championship medals. The biggest stars will be here, so emotions will be high! We are also pleased with the excellent Polish national team and our regional athletes, who have real medal chances.

A team from the Marshal’s Office, working closely with the regional athletics association, is responsible for events taking place outside the arena, including the “50 Relays of Kujawy and Pomorze” campaign and the fan zone being set up at the New Town Market Square.

The championships are an opportunity to showcase the attractiveness of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region. The fact that the competitions take place in Toruń does not mean we are limiting ourselves to this city,” said Beata Sawińska.
As the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Tourist Organization, in partnership with our members, we are preparing activities for the entire WA Family, including walks around Toruń as well as trips to Bydgoszcz and Chełmno.”

Hotels hosting athletes and officials feature display stands with printed brochures about the region, equipped with QR codes linking to a mobile app. Visitors are also encouraged to explore the website www.kujawsko-pomorskie.travel, where they can find information about fan zone attractions and interesting facts about the region.

To mark the World Indoor Championships Kujawy–Pomorze 26, a unique collection of soy candles titled “Constellation of Senses” has also been created at the Soap and History of Dirt Museum manufactory in Bydgoszcz. Each candle lid features a QR code leading to the region’s tourism portal. By scanning it, guests can discover inspiration for future trips – from remarkable places and tourist routes to local flavors, events, and leisure opportunities in the heart of the “Constellation of Good Places.”

This evening, an animation showcasing the tourist attractions of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region will be projected onto the building of the Marshal’s Office.

A media village and a transmission complex have been set up next to the arena. Providing power for this area was a major challenge. I am convinced that the solutions we have developed will serve as a model for organizers of future major events,” said Krzysztof Wasita.
“It is also worth noting that when choosing the location for the fan zone, we aimed to place it along natural pedestrian routes while relieving pressure on the arena. There will be a large number of vehicles and security measures in that area, so generating additional traffic would not have been a good idea
.

The briefing was also attended by coordinators of the weekend “Kujawsko-Pomorskie plogging” initiative.
