O!Lśnienie 2026 Award for The Good Home, co-financed by our Film Fund

The O!Lśnienia awards are an annual prize organized by Onet and the City of Warsaw to honor achievements in Polish culture. In this jubilee edition, the creators of the film The Good Home, co-financed by the Kujawy Pomorze Film Fund, celebrated a double triumph.

The winners of the 10th edition of the poll were announced on 7 March during a gala at the Nowy Teatr in Warsaw, broadcast by TVP Kultura and Onet. Awards were presented in seven categories. In the film category, the winners were the creators of The Good Home: actors Agata Turkot and Tomasz Schuchardt, along with director Wojciech Smarzowski.
The nomination justification read: “For performances that bring to life the director’s uncompromising vision. For creating a work that has become a turning point for many in thinking about domestic violence.”

It’s very gratifying that our film is a drop in the ocean of education. The point is that we learn to distinguish violence from conflict. This concerns the police, the courts, doctors—education is crucial. It should start in school, but it won’t happen during religion classes,” Smarzowski said after receiving the award.

In the category, the creators of The House of Good competed with Iga Lis, director of the documentary Baltic, and Kordian Kądziela, Andrzej Konopka, and Filip Zaręba, nominated for LARP. Love, Trolls and Other Quests.

The success did not end with the film category. The Good Home also received the Grand Prize – O!Lśnienie 2026, awarded to the work that received the highest number of votes from internet users. The creators received a commemorative statuette and a prize of 40,000 PLN. Accepting the award, Agata Turkot said from the stage:

I also hope that when all the dust and excitement surrounding our film settles, we won’t forget about this problem. I hope we won’t keep turning our eyes away from it and that we will remain attentive and compassionate toward one another. I hope that help for people affected by violence will finally become real help in our country.”

This year’s winners represent different fields and styles, but they are united by courage, originality, and a distinctive artistic vision. I’m glad that The Good Home received the most votes—it proves the power of emotions and the impact of art on reality. I’m proud that we have created awards that have become a strong brand in culture,” summarized Katarzyna Janowska from Onet, the initiator of the O!Lśnienia poll.

The Good Home had its pre-premiere in September last year at the 50th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, where it competed in the main competition. Its title references another well-known Smarzowski production from 2009, The Evil House. Nearly 2.5 million viewers have seen the film in cinemas, making it the biggest Polish box-office hit of 2025 and the second most watched film by the director, after Clergy (2018). The film also received 13 nominations for the Polish Film Awards – Eagles.

A partner of The Good Home is the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, which supported the project through the Kujawy Pomorze Film Fund. The production involved companies and individuals from the region. The film was produced by the Bydgoszcz-based company Lucky Bob, with Wojciech Gostomczyk and Janusz Hetman as producers. Executive producers and co-producers were Joanna Drzewiecka, Andrzej Drzewiecki, and Adam Gudell, while Waldemar Kotecki served as co-producer.

In October last year, during the pre-premiere at Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, Wojciech Smarzowski received the Polish Film Award of the Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region named after Pola Negri.
